Arsenal transfers 25/26

Nelli and Jesus will be like new signings… not too bad.
we pretty much played without them for a big chunk of time last season anyway.

Jesus will play some games at RW. Nelson is not a horrible third choice, looked lively in pre season.

I want one more but not some garbage we get stuck with, we had enough of that for years.

If we get Merino then I’ll be happy if we take a punt on some very promising youngsters, having good breakthrough talents threatening to displace first teamers won’t do us any harm. We’ve already got a few but now might be a good time to start building for the long-term.

I’m all for that. We want to have a healthy conveyor belt of talent coming through for the long run.

BUT, right now we’re on the precipice of major silverware after decades not winning the big ones. Moreno alone will not get us across the line. We need someone to significantly upgrade the attack as well have the team perform minimum to last season’s standard.

It’s harsh but the margins to success are thinner than the hairs on Peps head.

The team is young enough, we have one of the lowest average age squads.

We need to put the pieces together to win. The future is right now.

That’s the hope for this season. Add zinchenko to that list of ‘comebacks’.

I have a suspicion you may be disappointed. It may just be merino. I don’t see any sign of a major exit to pave the way for a significant upgrade.

sign up Merino and then add either a RW or striker then we should be good for the transfer window, sell some more players and maybe add signings depending on who leaves

“Floor raisers”, “quality youth” (and Merino), “one out/one in”. They’ve told us what the plan is. Nobody should be disappointed.

If Nketiah goes, someone will come in. They’ll likely be a back-up but one more suited to our style and slightly younger than Eddie.

They’ve probably already opened negotiations with targets and we (and the rest of the internet) have no idea who.

Calafiori and Merino on top of what we already have is an incredible squad. The bench is stacked. We’re equipped with all we need to make our challenge.

Nothing more sweet than beating 115 charges FC to the title without breaking the rules and doing smart transfers. Trust Arteta, Edu and co to do the business to get the team equipped to win the league this season. I believe.

Believe me I hear you and you’re right we are a better squad.

Unfortunately challenging isn’t good enough at this stage. Anything less than a league title or CL is failure.

I just think Calafiori and Merino will not be enough.

If Nketiah goes, I don’t think Calafiori and Merino will be all.

Best part of 4 weeks to go, loads of time for developments in the market, money in the bank and a few opportunities to arise that don’t currently seem likely. We’ve offloaded pretty much every player we could have hoped for. Tierney excluded for obvious reasons. Ramsdale and Nelson could still leave in my opinion.

Putting all our eggs in the comeback player basket would be a real let down for me. We missed out on the title imo because we didn’t have quite enough quality options.

Jesus looks healthy now but I think it’s foolish to rely on him.

we have Jesus, Martinelli, Zinny, Timber as comeback players…

if we see it this way, I understand why Arteta not going to buy more after Calafiori and Merino.

That’s a lot to pin our hopes on.

I think we hedged our bets by signing Calafiori which was good. But the attack feels thin again.

well, you know… we did not really have problems on attack last season, right?
we had record goals scored with Jesus and Martinelli completely out of form.

Let’s say Kai/Trossard have a dip this season, but Jesus and Martinelli picking up their forms a bit.
Our attack is still very dangerious.

No doubt, but I still think it’s thin. Especially on the right.

maybe we are saving our ammos for one big transfer in January or next summer.
we should monitor Musiala’s situation as he is entering his final year of contract.

Maybe. We were told we saved our ammo last January too.

Could we win the league without another attacking signing? Sure. We came very close last year. But it still feels short.
