Arsenal transfers 25/26

I was talking about Curtis Jones.

Zubimendi is dependent on Partey and Jorginho.

So said that as your reply followed:

I’m pretty sure that Jorginho will be offered a new deal to stay a few more seasons. He becomes the new Elneny, and Zubimendi replaces Partey.

Jorgi the new Elneny?

well… :joy:

Well I mean, as third choice…he is clearly an upgrade on Elneny! But he becomes the older experienced player within the squad.

Depends if he’s ok with that. I think he can be more than just an Elneny imo which is why I think he should look to move on in the summer.

If I was him I would look to cash in while time allows.

Jorginho will want to win things. Why leave a club that’s on the verge of seriously challenging for the PL and CL? For extra minutes? I don’t think so…

Check his resume, he has won a lot, not like he is really missing something on club level that he is eager to pursue at his age.

He is happy here, his pal (Kai) is here, got sufficient playing time, respected by his teammates and manager.
Staying with us is actually a better choice.

Because his ability to draw big money is slowly fading. Arsenal won’t hand him a massive contract to be third choice #6.

Could easily squeeze a massive contract in Saudi or perhaps Turkey.

Saudi? Seriously? The league is already dying before it got off the ground. Sooner the better. Can’t see him leaving for Saudi or Turkey. More likely he returns to Italy, but I think the offer of a new contract at Arsenal is too much to turn down.

Are Turkish clubs really gonna pay more than we will?

Hence I said short of quality :slightly_smiling_face:

I don’t know what top quality we can/will sign if we have Ode, Rice, Zubi, and Kai already taking major minutes from the three midfield positions.

Just like RW, we want to sign a top back up, but what top player would like to sit more of the time while Saka will play 90% of the time?

As back up, as long as ESR and Vieira are healthy enough (fingers crossed), they are good enough. We also have Jorgi.

How much do you think we’re gonna offer him to be third choice, if we’re gonna bring someone like Zubimendi in.

Why wouldn’t we offer him the same he is on now? It’s not as though he is playing loads.

At least 2 names I’d pick over Jones right now. But the trust klopp shows in him and the consistent performances say a lot about him.

Depends on what he’s on. He’s already had some fitness issues as well.

I reckon he’s around 150k pw. I don’t think we’re gonna offer him that again and we’ll probably not offer him beyond a one year extension either.

I think Turkish sides will definitely match those wages if not offer him more and for a longer length.

Saudis can easily offer him double that.

Funnily enough, I think if there’s one reason for him to take a pay cut and stay another year would probably be his wife which if I recall correctly is from North London.

Curtis Jones has been impressive this year. He wouldn’t be a signing that would get me excited however. Think there are lots of players who can do what he does.

No thank you.

Well I don’t see it that way.

I think we need to sign a starting player for the left side because none of the others have been good enough.

Zubi and rice will play the 6 if Partey is sold. They may also play together as 6 & 8, but if that’s not the regular setup then we have a big weakness at 8.

You either sign Zubi and do this most weeks:

Rice - Zubi - Ode

Or Zubi is coming to backup rice at least next year while he adapts and we have:

Gap - Rice (Zubi) - Ode

I don’t wana keep filling that gap with 3 players who fail to own the position. Either one of the existing 3 (Kai, Emile, Fabio) need to step up and own that slot or we buy a starter.

Maybe Arteta doesn’t see it this way?

No, I don’t often consider what Arteta’s opinion is before forming my own though. It’s me who said I want second CM as I think we have a quality gap there.

If he doesn’t that’s fine, he’s the manager not me.
