I spent most of the summer thinking we would bring in another forward but the combination of buying Raya (even with some of the cost offset by Turner) and both Vieira and ESR seemingly having pretty good pre-seasons has me now thinking it won’t happen.
I don’t really like it but it seems Mikel will go with the pu pu platter of Vieira/Nelson/whoever as backup RW and we will spend the year praying that none of Martinelli, Jesus, or Saka miss significant time.

I’d like either a no 8 ideally, or another versatile forward.
But it seems Arteta will have faith in Havertz, ESR and Fabio for the 8.
It also seems he’ll have faith in Eddie, Trossard and Havertz to backup Jesus.
Backup / competition for Saka on the RW. We have good cover everywhere else for this season.
Next summer the priority has to be a top top quality striker and a new DM to replace either Partey or Jorginho (Caicedo please). The maybe an upgrade on Gabriel or Kiwior at LCB.
Top quality striker is a pipe dream tbh, not many exist in world football.
Osimehn and Kane are probably the only 2 that I’d say that could be on the move and are a clear upgrade on Jesus.
We can tell if Arteta actually has faith on Eddie or not in the next few games.
If Arteta insists to play Kai as #9, it is not a good sign for Eddie.
We all know, Arteta knows, Kai is NOT an out and out striker, and Kai doesn’t want that also.
Once Jesus is back, we will know how much Arteta wants ESR.
Kai can play there, seems like Rice will play there a bit…
I am thinking exactly that…either Osimehn or Kane (depending if he leaves for Bayern this summer, or if not, if he signs a new deal at Spurs). Unless of course another talent emerges over the course of the season…
