Agreed, in hindsight it could change but going off the transfers alone so far it is definitely the most ambitious window I’ve witnessed as an Arsenal fan.
The investment we’ve made is unprecedented for me. We’ve completely shattered our transfer record and have made the second most expensive signing in PL history. On top of that we signed Chelsea’s best forward (let’s ignore the context around why that was🤣) and one of Germany’s best players in Havertz. Furthermore, we signed the biggest starlet to come out of the Ajax academies since FdJ and MdL.
As things stand we’re the biggest spenders of this window and have surpassed City in having the most valuable squad in world football.
Something would have to go really wrong for it go bad, and I hope haven’t jinxed it now.
I agree, we haven’t had many windows better than this.
Not only did we break our transfer record for Rice, it was for a position where we needed top quality. We’ve also strengthened significantly with Timber and Havertz but most importantly, we didn’t sell any of our best players to do it.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia might need his own thread if the rumours continue to intensify. Looks like a cracking signing and would complete the most complete of transfer windows.
Payments in instalments are the norm in Italy so the eyewatering figures quoted for him can probably be overcome.
You can tell Arteta was deeply hurt after losing the PL title last season. He’s not messing about, full surgery happening with this squad this summer and I love it.
I don’t see it, city were not so long being touted as a possible destination for him at €100m. I don’t see us signing another guy for that much money in the same window.
It could be as little as £30m up front, £70m over the next 4 years. It’ll take us close to the edge of the comfort zone, but maybe KSE are out to topple the Saudis. CEOs can be very competitive.
