Arsenal transfers 25/26

It is true though, we’ve stepped right away from signing players opportunistically or who don’t fit the wider strategy and in the big picture that’s for the best.

That’s why I very much doubt we’ll see any incomings this week.

I imagine there will be people ready to throw a fit simply over the fact the club might try to do “one” there.

The combination of us having done so well in the transfer market and league so far means the tantrums on Thursday will be particularly poorly founded and hiliarious.

I just don’t see us purposely leaving it late after having such a good summer already.

I expect to see a couple of signings.

I don’t think we are leaving it late. Clearly linked to outgoings and FFP issues. We need to clear out before we can buy. BUT if the player(s) we want aren’t available, I don’t see us bringing players in for the sake of it…think we have a clear plan on who we want.

At minimum we need backup as Partey is already out of the team and it’s affected our play.

I am an optimist by nature about these things but I really do think we’ll get one more. Although I have no idea who it might be.

There are a lot of differences between now and the last winter window. We were looking at competing in one competition then, now we’re looking at competing in all comps with the most congested fixture schedule of any recent season. Arteta and Edu were also very cagy in their public statements during the winter window whereas this window Arteta has implied at every opportunity over the last few weeks that more signings are needed (more firepower, we are a little bit short, etc). And its generally just much easier to sign players in the summer, even at the end of the window.

I certainly don’t think it’s being done on purpose. They wanted Jesus, they got Jesus. They wanted a left back and they got a left back. The Vieira one seemed like a bit of good timing and luck but I think it was always set up like this.

There were two huge areas of need that they thought we could address first. Then get guys out of the squad. And at the end of the window see what holes remain and if they can do something else.

Just for example. I think if we’d signed Raphina we wouldn’t have signed Zinchenko at this point. We’d be still weighing up our options for a leftback if that makes sense.

We won’t be getting a backup for Partey. Can’t see that happening. That’s why we’ve kept Elneny. No.8 and a Winger are going to be the targets. If we have a good season, secure CL next season, I think we will go all out for a top quality central midfielder/defensive midfielder. Would love us to go for Rice with 2 years left on his deal and be able to offer CL football.

My bad, i need to catch up with daily hypocrisy

Let’s not forget that one of the midfielders we’re linked with will be less than half his current price in the next window otherwise we’d have already signed him.

Plus, after the striker problem last season I think Edu and Arteta may be more prepared to bolster the squad for the run-in this season during and use January window to bring in someone this time around.

Agree. We are not paying silly money for Tielemans. If they don’t lower their price, we can go back in January and get him for half the price. We can get through half a season without him.

I have a feeling we’ve already agreed terms and transfer tactics with the player. It feels to me like he’s ours already.

It’s really only three months which is wild.

I don’t know if we could secure top four before the world cup break but we can definitely dig ourselves an impossible hole before the break. If we’re able to go into November in a good position and then strengthen it would be amazing.

We should be aiming higher than the likes of Tielemans

Leper is obviously very confident no more signings won’t really hinder us in the quest for a champions league place, hopefully should it happen he’s right.

I’d hate to see people that are very annoyed by no more incomings be proven correct as it bites us in the Arse during the season and lands us 5th.

All in all though hopefully it’s not a talking point at all and club finds another couple of quality players to sign by 11pm Thursday night.

Who would you want? Rice? Neves? Silva?

I think there’s a hope among folks, myself included, that the club has learned from last January’s debacle and even if the “perfect” signing isn’t available now, that it would wait out this August-November run and then go back into the market. It’s a huge risk because of how compressed the schedule is, but I think that’s what they’re going to do.
