Nico to Nice on loan.

How many years does he have on his current deal?

2 years

Ahh so if he does well at Nice we can offload him next season for pocket lint and loose buttons. Got it.

And? You must be really optimistic.

I expect one and would be happy with one as long as its somebody already at a relatively high level who can really help us this year.

I want us to have at least one guy coming in but I just can’t shake the feeling that it’s gonna be a bit of ā€œwe tried but the value wasn’t thereā€ coming out of the club.

It’d be nice but I don’t think we will. The Neto thing seems like it would be very expensive and I’m not sure the interest is as great as a lot of fans would like to believe it is. Same with Tielemans, I don’t think the price will be to our liking especially with the prospect of a free transfer in a year or a cheaper one in January.

Can’t really complain though, we’ve done very well this window even as things stand.

I want 2, willing to accept 1 given the reported FFP limitations, will be disappointed with 0.

Yep same. Just feel like we have an opportunity to take a big step forward that accelerates us along in a significant way.
Especially while others are in a trial and error way.
Its not just about securing top 4 here, its about building something more for the near future.

If we gonna breach FFP, now is the time. Blame Covid, inflation, etc. And then can balance the books after

Yup one is probably good enough but equally feel that getting noone is a big mistake. One good signing in the right area and we are in a really good spot, two would be amazing.

I can understand the logic of not wanting to sign a guy who doesn’t elevate us much but I’d be annoyed that we aren’t consolidating our strong position by falling back on that.

I think we’ll get 1 a winger of some sort.

Praying we get a winger and CM.

Get none and we’re praying for a charmed injury run.

Hoping for two established players that can challenge for a spot in the team. If we don’t we will have to rely on key players staying fit, which is a bit of a gamble.

We need 2 signings obviously but I’ve got a sinking feeling that we’re going to gamble on the current squad (just like we did in January).

Bruno G was the player we really fucked up by not signing. I’m hoping we don’t make a similar error this window.

I think as Arsenal fans we’ve kinda been there already.
We saw it with Wenger late on. Having a good core of players, missing a 2-3 key additions to take that next step and arrogantly we usually addressed 1 at best and usually poorly.

We eventually got found out as the rest of the league wasn’t gonna wait for us. Feels like yesterday we were a mainstay in the Champions League. Has it been 6-7 years now since we’ve been in that competition?

The club got rightly criticized for not pushing on in January and stripping the team while in a strong position. I’ll take the excuse the pool of talent available in January is limited.

We’re in a very similar now. Team is in a strong position, the squad is once again being gutted ahead of a grueling season. Even the youth that were worth a look are gone. We have to strengthen squad, even 1 more player could help but ideally we’re 2 players away from having a proper squad where we don’t sweat every time 2-3 players are out.

Need 2, we’ll get 1.

There appears to be a clear plan that Edu & Arteta put in place, with contingencies (Jesus for Vlahovic, Zinchenko for Martinez). And I think they have the complete backing of the board on that. From the evidence we have, it seems they are willing to risk short term gains for the long term vision.

There is no doubt that we need a competent backup for Partey and maybe another attacking player but it won’t be a complete disaster if we don’t sign another player. We are already better off compared to last season and while CL football is the target for us fans, I don’t know if it’s a make or break goal for Mikel this season. Just like January, Edu & Mikel might be okay to take a risk and go with what we have.

Again, we are way better off compared to last season, and we haven’t even seen what Vieira can do.

It’s still a risky situation I would like to avoid. The January decision wasn’t ok by any means and I hope they’ve learned from it.
