He sounds like heā€™d be exactly the kind of player Arteta and Edu would want.

Just watching Sky Sports and theyā€™re saying Martial has absolutely no future at United now, would you take him as Lacaā€™s replacement ?

Nope, didnā€™t even want before he went to United, certainly donā€™t want him now. Dudeā€™s a fraud, has his moments but heā€™s more often fraud than not.

Well we brought in Welbeck from them. Who was another striker who canā€™t score more than 11/12 . To be honest maybe harsh on Danny he was a shit finisher and a poor football player but at least he worked hard and has movement off the hall. Martial is/was the biggest hype job in football. No movement off the ball and has poor positioning and work rate.

Thereā€™s something there ability wise but his mentality is very suspect.

No, because this next CF signing needs to be a replacement for both Laca and Auba, with Auba entering his twilight. With Balogun and Martinelli upcoming there is room for one CF signing for long term with those two, not two signings, so should be top quality with low risk.

No heā€™s worse than Laca

Absolutely not. As Eddieā€™s replacement, yes, but not as the striker we expect loads of goals from.

Iā€™d rather we stop scavenging Clelseaā€™s and Unitedā€™s garbage

I agree.
If players like Sylvestre, Welbeck, Mkhitayran, Cech, Luiz and Willian, arenā€™t enough to realise that buying Man U and Chelsea cast offs is a waste of money, then nothing is.

Martial has just been handled badly genuinely think a good manager gets something out of him - more so than his current end product.

Nah Martial doesnā€™t deserve his hype.

Right now our left wing options are Saka and Martinelli (assuming ESR and Odegaard battle it out for the #10 spot/Odegaard plays as CM)

Saka is being relied on too much for his age, and it doesnā€™t look like Martinelli is ready for regular first team football. Plus Saka can play elsewhere on the pitch anyway.

Also Martial is a better goalscorer than either, which we currently only have through Auba (when on form), and Pepe.

So if we brought him in to play #2 striker to Auba and rotating LW with Saka Iā€™d be OK with it (if a cheap fee and reasonable wages)

Of course Iā€™d rather just get a top quality striker, but hard to do without CL and megabux

Youā€™re right we need a LW but Iā€™d hate it to be Martial. He wouldnā€™t move he needle for us at all and he would come with a real chip on his shoulder, it would be Mkhitaryan all over again.

I think youā€™re doing what Arsenal scouting did for years in terms of technicals, versatility, etc., but none of that tackles the mental aspect. Does he have an edge, drive, can he be clinical, can he be a difference maker in big matches sometimes in hostile away environments, etc. I think weā€™ve seen enough at United where the killer edge as a ruthless striker/forward isnā€™t going to come. He might have purple patches here and there, but thatā€™s about it.

The only impact versatility makes to me is whether it means heā€™s going to be playing enough to make it worth signing him/to give him a chance to develop.

It doesnā€™t affect how good a player I think he is, and I do think with regular gametime he could be a quality player

I havenā€™t previously looked up the stats as obv only just started discussing it, but I wouldnā€™t be surprised if he was one of their more clinical players

Edit:
In 20/21 in premier league and CL he got 6 goals 8 assists in 1,900 mins (G/A per 137 mins), and in 19/20 premier league and EL he got 21 goals 8 assists in 3,100 mins (G/A per 108 mins)

Theyā€™re not bad stats, and I think the 19/20 ones show he can be a goalscorer, doesnā€™t necessarily prove how clinincal he was but I canā€™t imagine he was getting that many chances with a reasonable number of those minutes being on the LW.

Regards to the big matches and hostile away environments, Iā€™m not sure thatā€™s a key problem of ours, we sometimes struggle at home against the bottom teams more than we do a hard away game.

Some good stuff in there. Regarding your last paragraph, I see us rebuilding to be back in CL within two seasons, and then kick.on to be serious contenders in PL & CL. That would be part of what I see as building the squad to come into its prime coinciding with when Saka, ESR, Ode, etc. step up levels approaching their prime. Do we think.in a crunch against City or Chelsea late on in the season we could get the result needed, or withstand big pressure quarter-finals onwards in a CL challenge? The suspicion with Arsenal mentality in the past is we would always fold. Thats what we will have to change with this squad in development for when it hits its peak. Otherwise, patience in a ā€œprojectā€ wonā€™t end up worth it.

Martial is very talented, but Arteta isnā€™t the manager who will get the best out of him. A fluid front 3 of Martial, Martinelli and Pepe (yes I know Saka would and should start) would actually be exciting.

Martial will probably go to Dortmund or Serie A and do well.

No consistency in those 3 players to be leading the line.
Be really frustrating watch that line up.
