Arsenal Pre-season 25/26

in reality that goal was a bloody farce as well…..never should have stood.

Positives:

Great atmosphere in the ground. Genuinely better than 80% of emirates games I’ve been too. Seeing 50000 Chinese Arsenal fans sing “fuck your mother” to the ref was worth it.

Dowman has mega aura.

Lots of fit birds.

Downsides:

We’re still completely shit at creating chances..

Gyokeres/Havertz dosnt matter when your in the horse shoe of death.

Martinelli should be sold now for close to maximum value.

Agreed that MLS could be more aggressive here although I will say that this clip is not actually that bad in terms of what happens next. The key is we move the ball quickly to the right side and therefore get a chance to put a pretty good cross into the box against a defense that isn’t really settled with two big box crashers against three defenders in the middle, Trossard in space at the far post, and three other players lurking around for the second ball near the top of the 18. Do this enough and either Kai/Rice win the header or ball will bounce in a good place eventually. Its when we move the ball really slowly from side to side that’s a problem.

Use to really stick up for this guy, but he is starting to annoy me now too.

Martinell is what he is, isn’t his fault we haven’t brought in that much needed upgrade

Feels like we don’t make any incisive moves once we are near the goal. You need players underlapping and making runs in behind to get that defense moving, we just sit on the edge and then try get a cross in. It’s pretty much the easiest attack to defend.

I’d like to see that early ball out to the wing more often and actually push forward rather than playing it back again and again.

Richarlitwatison motm?! lol

What’s annoying for me is that this window really should have been about the difference makers

And all but one have either come in late or still yet to be signed

Very lame

Is that the far East done now? Back on the plane to England?

Yup

What do you mean Norgaard and Mosquera haven’t been exactly what we need!!

But hey!!

We have a Saka cover!!

True, the attack didn’t fizzle out, but putting crosses into the box hasn’t been effective against a low block. It’s low probability football.

What I’d rather see Arsenal do is working the ball into the central areas. Exploit the space created by the defensive line dropping. If White first-time passes that to the midfielder on his left, Arsenal probably get a shot on goal, or at the very least an opportunity inside the penalty box.

I think this would’ve been a game where a duo of Gyokeres and Havertz would’ve come in handy.

Goes without saying that we need something different on the left.

Nobody in our team beats the line by themselves. When your good you fizz it into a player they drop a shoulder and the game opens up. I feel like it never happens for us.

Just wait for Noni please; don’t forget we signed him !

He’s maybe a slight upgrade on Martinelli in the current horrible form he’s in but we need more than that

I am somewhat excited to see what Madueke has to offer for us, but it says more about the lack ouf our theat up front than about me rating Madueke.

Slight upgrade is still an upgrade.

Sometimes if you can unlock one piece, we may unlock other parts also

better to lose to Spurs in pre season when it doesn’t even matter, they were due a win vs us and all is good again with the universe

I fear he is not just a slight upgrade…
