Aaron Ramsey

Doh yeah lol

My bad

It’s good to hear someone mild-toned like Aaron after all the loud-mouthed football content creators.

Stop it :sob:

Fuggin Ramsey of all players got in the way of us having that and we would’ve ended our title drought almost 10 years ago.

I still feel Wengertax would make me doubt it even still with them players in our midfield lol

Wengertax didn’t stop us from winning the FA Cup.
I am sure if Wenger was given money & if Wenger didn’t hold onto players like Theo Walcott, he would have won us more trophies.

Fabregas, Cazorla and Ozil as a midfield three under Wenger spells serious trouble defensively lol

We will win games 5-4 every week

It’s taking Arteta more than half a billion dollars to win the league, but Wenger should win it with less than 100m.
Make it make sense.

I am generally supportive of Wenger but to be honest that sounds roughly right when you look at what has happened to transfer fees in the last ten years.

Well the Neymar transfer changed football forever. Back in 2017, before the Neymar transfer, spending £80m got you Gareth Bale to Real Madrid.

Fast forward to the Arteta years and Ā£80m doesn’t even buy you Mudryk or Antony.

The landscape of transfer fees have changed so you cannot make a direct comparison between Arteta spending and Wenger spending.

What I do know is that when we signed Mustafi he was undoubtedly one of the top 10 most expensive CBs of all time and when we signed Xhaka his transfer would have sat around 11/12 in the most expensive transfers in PL history.

So ultimately Wenger spending Ā£120m on Perez, Mustafi, Lacazette and Xhaka was a big waste of money at the time and we could have signed considerably better players for a similar sum of money. It’s all on him for his bad decision making in the transfer market towards the end.

Then when you also factor in the wages that some of these absolute clowns were on it was just disgusting.

Our wage bill relative to the talent we had in our squad was an absolute shit show lol

some of the wages on there :wright2:

Kolasinac on £100k. What were we thinking?

100m in 2014 didn’t get you a team that will consistently win you trophies.
If it were, United, Liverpool, Tottenham would have done it.

And Wenger didn’t even have 100m to spend in single season.

I don’t think Juventus spent more than Ā£100m assembling the team Allegri took to the CL final loss against Barcelona.

Smart investing takes you far.

Besides, we spent not far off £100m that summer we signed Xhaka, Mustafi and Perez.

:man_shrugging:

Don’t forget Wenger bid Ā£92m for Thomas Lemar that next year too my friend. He showed us what he’d do with money that point lol.

We can.

Arteta has moved from Ramsdale to Raya - purely for marginal improvement in Keeper position.
That’s spending net 45m for a Keeper.

Arteta spent 35m on Calafiori when, number-wise, there is no need for Arteta to buy a player of that transfer value when you have Tomiyasu-Zinchenko-Timber covering left back and Kiwior-Gabriel-Tomiyasu covering left center back.
It is a luxury signing regardless of whether you make me find sense in signing him. When the transfer window started, no one was asking for a defender.
Zinchenko, Jesus were signed as starting team members - now that 85m are for squad players.

There is no need to spend 105m on a single midfielder, yet we brought in Rice. You can get a midfielder of similar ilk for half the price.

While you are arguing about Wenger spending 100m for the first team in 2 summer windows. Arteta has spent money on luxury signings.

Arteta has had all this money for pure luxury of marginal improvements and not yet won the title.

Wenger had no room of error. Once Wenger spent money on first team signing, he is stuck with that player. Whereas Arteta could bring in 75m Havertz because Jesus is not working.

There’s absolutely no comparison. And as far as I can tell, No PL for Arsenal yet.

You know very well that there is a big difference between Juventus and Bayern Munich in terms of poaching talents locally for cheap, and when a PL club goes for that same talent, the club overcharge PL clubs.

Plus there is always something shady happening in such Serie A deals.

Mustafi was only 10k less  :face_vomiting:
Bellerin £10k more :facepalm::facepalm:
