25/26 Title race 🏆

Right down to the lack of a shot on target

I mean 7 points its respectable but its the most points we’ve been ahead of City after equal games. We seem to get nervous when its a result needed to go 8 or 9 ahead.

We already were 7 points ahead before, but man city cut it down to 2, thats why Im so pissed that we havent made the lead more, this time around.

You arent putting Man Citys title hopes to bed with a 7 point lead.

I hope its not a case of “fuck around, find out”.

City can’t even buy a win right now in the League. Can we relax just a little bit fellas?

Wolves next though :see_no_evil_monkey:

They’ll win and we’ll have to hear about how they are ‘back’ for beating that abomination.

Wolves to get their first away win of the season :pires2:

In any case…
If we miss out on the league, after being in such a position, Arteta is getting sacked cold on the pitch afer the final whistle of that end game.

No pressure.

Thank fuck that City have fell off a cliff. We’ve had two opportunities to really punish them and have responded by not scoring. We are too nervous/cautious. We should have spanked Liverpool and beat Forest. Still unbeaten this calendar year, I suppose.

tbf, last season was a dreadful league campaign given what we did the 2 seasons prior and our aims.

Definitely think we’ll end up with way more points come end of the season no doubt.

Whether it’ll be enough, remains to be seen. If we can remain on that 15+ swing then we end with 89 points and pretty much win the league.

16 games, 48 points remain. Still plenty of football to be played.

The thing is, we still are the favourites to win the league by some distance. City are a wreck defensively and Villa don’t have it in them to go all the way. We have a 7 point lead and a good squad which should see us through. If we bottle this season, man….. This season has to be the one where we finally end our 22 year wait.

Villa are out of it. City can’t be written off yet. I need to see them lose two more. Would be great if we could inflict a loss but I reckon Spurs or Liverpool will get an early one in.

Spurs will do nothing, even if the gooner is still in charge, the players won’t be up for it. Plus they’re shit.

Gotta hope Liverpool sneak something, even a draw will do.

They will be next week if they lose at Newcastle and we beat united

So we ending up with 89 points?

State of play after 22 games, we lead the following by:

  • Man City - 7 points
  • Villa - 7 points
  • Liverpool - 14 points
  • Man Utd - 15 points
  • Chelsea - 16 points
  • Spurs - 23 points

I think we should be pretty pleased at this stage of the season!

City have Wolves (H), Spurs (A), and Liverpool (A) in their next few fixtures - some potential to drop further points in these games!

The schedule is just brutal for teams in Europe and this is the time of the year that the bill comes due. PL sides in Europe this past weekend had 1 win, 4 losses, and 4 draws while scoring a grand total of 5 goals across those nine fixtures. And that was almost all coming against weaker (but likely fresher) competition, with Arsenal-Forest the only match between two sides in European competitions.

I know its scary to think City could just go on a vintage run and rip off 10 wins in a row but I just don’t think they have the stuff nor is the league really set up to enable that any more. Every match is too competitive and the teams like City and Arsenal are just too jaded to sustain challenges in four competitions while going on those PL runs.

We really just need to find a way to win our next 2-3 league matches to keep the pressure on City while they go through their murderous run and then use February - which has a relatively light schedule - to get ourselves healthy and a bit more rested.

Who are we facing when they face those three teams? More curious about our fixtures than others given how we have been lately.
