25/26 Title race 🏆

Look we’re not a great side but we’re well in front. We’re just not that far ahead of the rest of the league to take any easy points. Forest away was a hard game for us always.

Yes we’ve had huge opportunities to run away with it and be 9-11 points ahead but we showed we’re not that imperious that we could easily do that. We have no choice to fight to the end with what we’ve got. We’ll be one of the weaker champions IMO. I don’t even think we’re as good as what we were a few years ago yet our chances of winning the league are possibly double.

We’re extremely fortunate we’re not up against City and Liverpool from the last 8 years or so - not to take loads of credit away from our team and squad which is stacked and defensively elite. Not a single game can be taken for granted for anyone this season.

7 points in front is an amazing position and over a long season, the rest of the league isn’t going to outmatch us now.

Low-key one of the worst players on the pitch.
I’ve lost count how many times Saka dragged 3 players to him, cut it back to Rice who simply had to whip it in(that’s his thing right?) and he kept pussying out, before passing it right back to Saka.

I’m pissed off about not winning, but at the end of the day, we started this round 6 points ahead of City. We’re ending it 7 points ahead of them. I can’t spend my evening raging on OA when this weekend has been a +1 net positive for us in the end.

The frustration is that instead of being 10 points or 12 points ahead based on Man City’s results, we are only 7.

Yes it feels deflating when we drop points at the same time that Man City did. But was it not a few gameweeks ago that Man City temporarily went first because they were close enough to do so?

Now they are 7 behind which means we have slowly been pushing them away. It’s not as emphatic as we want, but we have been widening the gap.

We lack a killer in the team, that’s what my main frustration is. The team is likely fighting as hard as they can, but they’re only human and playing a condensed set of matches. We need a consistent difference maker to gain the margins. I believe we’re gonna make it, but it will be a snail crawl.

Ruling out villa?

And while it was a derby, you’d expect city to be be at least getting a point from current United. Regardless of the new manager bounce.

That had to be a win for us tonight for me.

It seems to me that when we get the chance to take the decisive steps in the league, we just can’t get it done.

sad that if we done the business in the last 2 games, we’d be 11 fucking points clear right now.

Tell you what, just be glad city didn’t win and then we dropped this clanger.

Look at the reaction despite us gaining a point, imagine we’d lost two!

7 points clear and another tough away game chalked off

We’re on course to finish with over 90 points this season.

We could very well break our record points in a PL season. How’s that not a great side?

Top of the PL, top of the CL League Phase, a draw away from going to the League Cup final and still in the FA Cup.
People are saying anything nowadays.

Results wise we’re doing well, performance not so much.

I can’t call this side great based on the points total. If they lift the trophy they will get called great simply for that.

I get your sentiment btw just saying…

Not 100%, but I am very firmly in the camp of people saying they don’t have the legs for this race, it’s City I’m 95% focused on.

It’s all what ifs though, isn’t it? City probably shouldn’t have dropped points at home to Brighton or Chelsea. We could win today and City win those two from very winnable positions and they’re closer than they are now.

People are too used to City’s type dominance completely forgetting there’s a reason we call them cheaters. They had a team that shouldn’t be possible.

Blips like this are not unusual. Fergie teams went through this all the time.

Are we near the dominant Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea, Invincibles teams? Not for me and it won’t matter. We won’t need 90 points IMO. We will win the league just not at the canter the teams I mentioned would have. Which no one should give a monkeys about but it does mean the race will be alive late into the season.

It’s actually dropped to 86 points.

Yeah exactly…

As others mentioned, we’re not imperious enough to really pull away like that. Our rivals have regrets, we have regrets and on it goes. I wish we were a bit more of the finished article but we are not there yet.

If we remove all context of ours and Man City’s results, who played first, the scorelines etc. and we just saw how the points shifted, the momentum is still in our favour. As anxious as possible, but it’s there

I genuinely hate every minute of the league games. I can relax in the cups. Portsmouth felt like a pre season friendly for me :joy::joy::joy:
