I think it was last season or season before when we secured the most points against top 6 , still didn’t win.

It’s ideal to get one over them but not integral to winning league. I think it’s more down to losing silly points against weaker teams than winning against big ones.

Just feels really obvious to me that Villa cant sustain a run where they needed 10 wins in a row to be 6 off. It also feels inevitable that at some stage Unai prioritises his favourite thropy.

I get it, but they have been really outperforming their underlying metrics–they have 33 goals on 25.7 XG (Arsenal have 40 on 37.7, fwiw). Additionally, their XGA is 30.1, actual conceded is 24. Arsenal has an XGA of 14.8 and have conceded 14 thus far.

Doesn’t mean that it can’t continue, but it’s unlikely for them (or any team) to really outperform XG and have XGA in their favor quite a bit over a 38 game season.
