I understand Sunak is in Scotland today. Just caught this snap of him in Orkney.
He wants every backbench prick to lose their seat before swanning off to California hahahahaha
Tough choice for the youth of the UK there.
Apparently you could do your national service in cyber defence. I will rest a lot easier knowing someone who’s just finished their English Literature A Level is stopping Russia stealing my bank details.
Just remember China hacked the ‘professionals’ last month so Xi Jingping now k ows the bank details of every veteran
Can the country even afford national service? Presumably you have to pay people so they don’t, you know, starve.
This is straight out of House of Cards…maybe Sunak is trying to be the new Francis Urquhart.
Not an unexpected policy given the threat from Russia.
I mean, it sounds like laying the groundwork for conscription. Which is a bit worrying.
It is very worrying…but this is the reality of current world affairs and the aggression being shown by Russia. Lots of people downplay this, but the threat is very real. One of the reasons why we need to do everything we can to support Ukraine to win the war, otherwise, we will be fighting Russia with the rest of Europe. Other European countries are considering similar policies.
What about a year of national service and your college tuition is paid in full?
University tuition cannot be affordably subsidised for the number of people who now go to uni. Post 18 college tuition wouldn’t be enticing enough to attract large numbers.
There’s a good chance that will happen regardless of the outcome in Ukraine.
Campaign just started and we’re already at the last throw of the dice.
1 years national service and you get to vote
1 years national service and you don’t go to prison
1 years national service and you get to have a driver’s licence
1 years national service and you get free travel on public transport
1 years national service and you don’t have to watch Mrs Brown’s Boys
If Ukraine wins then the West, and particularly Europe, must continue to strengthen, but the risk reduces substantially. If Ukraine falls Europe is in serious trouble.
This now looks like I autistically sat there trying to aesthetically please myself by making each one longer than the previous giving it a nice shape.
I didn’t.
On a positive note, very please to see this…something I’ve advocated on this forum previously.
Keir Starmer to lower voting age to 16 as anyone who works should ‘have a say’
I think you’re absolutely wrong about that. A Russian defeat in Ukraine could be just as dangerous as a victory. There is going to have to be negotiation.
Hopefully it will never happen. For all the reasons we have been through previously.
Both trash ideas. Great to see the UK campaign trail off to a stunning start.
