Awesome race in the Men’s 200m butterfly final. Phellps just about hangs onto victory by 0.04s and regains the title, while Le Clos could only manage 4th.

The USA (and China) actually under performs every year considering their population.
Not only with a larger population does a team have a larger pool to choose from; but as a larger nation the law of averages suggests that you should have more talent.
Nations like Australia (26million) actually overachieve, and are the really impressive ones at almost every Olympics; currently they are sitting on 9 medals, compared to China’s 17 (1billion+) , and USA’s 26 (320 million).

We’re doing quite well in the Swimming this year, two more Silver medals last night. Overall tally up to 6 now.
Cancellara wins men’s time trial. Our women’s volley national team is basically out after losing their third game in a row, instead.
Been a good day for medals for GB, another Gold in the Canoe Salom, just won another Gold in the diving. And some bronzes in the trap shooting, Chris Froome in the Time Trial Cycling and Women’s Judo.
What a great Quarter final in the Rugby 7s. GB beating Argentina during Extra time on a ‘Golden Try’
