Your all-time Arsenal XI

Wait till you see me picking White…

Edit: You madman, I’ve just seen that you picked him.

You really have Saliba above Campbell?!

Sacrilege, I know

Saliba may well be the most overrated CB in the world right now if he’s already being put in all time Arsenal XIs!

Campbell was a complete CB and the biggest shame for his career was that his decline started as Terry and Ferdinand entered their respective primes for massively successful teams domestically and in European competition.

He was better than both of them

I have my excuse built in!

Would you have him as a top 5 Arsenal centre-back?

I’d have Gabriel ahead of him personally. But I don’t even think either of them are better than Gallas although his Arsenal career will forever be stained by his actions at Birmingham.

Campbell and Adams are the clear 1 and 2 in my lifetime. I’d round off the top 5 with Toure (pre malaria), Gallas and either Gabriel or Saliba… depends what day you catch me on.

Think both of them will comfortably be in that top 5 though with a few more seasons under their belt. Think Saliba has slipped a bit this season so want to see him get back to a higher level.

In my lifetime I’m having:

Adams
Campbell
Bould
Keown
Gabriel

Saliba well on his way to challenging for that list though.

Honourable mentions to Toure and Koscielny.

O’Leary just before my time

Saliba and Gabriel are very close to me.

I can’t put Gallas there, I just can’t look at him the same way after Birmingham.

I have quite the fondness for Kolo Toure. Which is why he’s there.

Kos-Mertesacker although complemented each other was nothing special individually. Good teams took them to the cleaners countless times.

There is no all time Arsenal without Henry, Bergkamp, Adams, Vieira, mostly from invincible…people end up having the same 7-8 players.

Let’s have some other discussions…
All time good looking
All time shit housing
All time wreckleds…

Fuck out

I’ll eventually return to this with my own XI

Bit thin on the ground for Emirates era goalkeepers but hopefully Raya will turn out to be the best so far.

Jens was pretty much done not long after the move.

Almunia hit and miss. Same with szczesny.

Cech had a couple of top years here (won golden glove twice if I’m remembering correctly)

Leno, Ramsdale etc decent but no longevity

100%. Even if he’d been incredible for us, and he really wasn’t anything more than good, it undid everything.

I agree, not much to go off.

I’d still rate what Raya and Ramsdale done ahead of Cech at this juncture and if you really pushed me, id have Leno ahead too. Cech was just too much on the way out when he came here.

Players like Toure, Lauren, and Gilberto not mentioned much but were so important in the Invincibles team.

Brilliant considering he arrived as a midfielder. Wasn’t someone you wanted to get on the wrong side of and loved giving it to the spurs fans when he scored against them. A shame he faded so fast after the injury problems around 05/06 but was solid for those good few years he was first choice RB.

It’s so weird how the invincible team pretty much was no more from the summer of 2006

Campbell and cole gone. Lauren injured.

Ljungberg on the downward spiral.

Pires gone.

Bergkamp retired.

Henry, Gilberto and Jens stuck it out but all would be gone not long after.

Only started actually watching Arsenal in the Invincibles season as football was considered “gay” in New Zealand until about 2022 and thus never saw the likes of Adams or Seamen play.

Lauren would’ve been my next RB after Sagna and Toure would’ve made the next cut of CBs with Gabriel.

Tough to leave players out but I had to keep Gilberto in, shocked not to see him in others.
