I always thought this guy was a bit of a prick for what he did to Marcus Bagwell.
I donāt think itās body shaming as such to say an athlete should be in condition for whatever they perform at. In wrestling there are a number of different physiques that can work but I donāt think Coleās is one of them.
It is fundamentally true in wrestling that the bigger someone naturally is, the more latitude they get with their physique, at least on the menās side. The treatment of women is a different matter entirely.
As for Cole, I donāt see his appeal and the physique is well down the list of reasons for that.
Still?
You donāt need to have the body of Hercules, just go to the gym every now and then lol. Theres more to being a wrestler than just being able to go in the ring, looks play just as big a part as anything else.
Yeah true enough! Tbh my distain was more the tweet than anything else being said here, soz for the sensitive reaction lol.
Heās wrestling Buddy Matthews tomorrow, bit of a clash of physiques lol
Would be nice for Buddy to win, but itās all kinda set up for Cole and Roddy to win their next 2 matches and then face off against each other for the right to wrestle MJF at Full Gear
Yeah definitely! I really like Buddy, wish heād feature more tbh. Would be a good pick to be in the C2 this year I think.
Heās the one married to Rhea Ripley, right?
Tis yeah! Believe he was Buddy Murphy in WWE
Cody Rhodes is the blandest wrestler that WWE have ever positioned as the face of the company.
You donāt seem impressed, lecture somebody that is uninformed. Whatās the problem with him?
My problem with him as a top guy started from the fact that he needs - still needs - to invoke his father (or his opponents need to) to give his storylines weight. He has at least stopped blubbing every time his father is brought up. Back before Wrestlemania there was one of Rockās sweary Instagram promos where he tore into Cody for crying and despite being in character and in storyline I really felt that
The way heās booked doesnāt help. He is the stereotype WWE babyface with the goofy humour that nobody over the age of 10 laughs at and the cringey āIāll fight anyone anytimeā schtick that makes every WWE babyface look like an idiot.
In the ring, despite his travels and time with AEW I donāt think heās really changed as a performer since his first run with WWE, and heās fine in the ring but no more than that. Increasingly I find thereās shades of the Super Cena in the way he overcomes his opponents from desperate situations as well.
And much like the bad days of Cena, I resent the extent to which heās forced down your throat as the main guy. I donāt think WWE or wrestling needs there to be a Hulk Hogan in a company anymore. But unlike Hogan or Austin, Rock or Cena I also feel that he lacks a real identity of his own beyond being Dustyās son.
Side note - I did not have Solo pinning Roman clean as a whistle on my bingo card this evening.
Just a side note, I watched New Years Revolution 2006 and fans were at it against Cena all the way back into his first title reign. They didnāt completely turn against him yet but any move he made was marked with boos. Crazy how WWE would go on shoved him down everyone throat for 6+ years after that.
In fairness to the fans incredible foresight, the super Cena booking in that match was absolutely ridiculous. Even with the Edge cash in.
The kick out from the first spear on the cash in was peak Super Cena.
It was such a mistake never to turn Cena heel. What theyāve done with Reigns shows categorically that was the route to getting Cena over organically. He was a good heel lower down the card too. The merch would have kept flying off the shelf.
My favourite bit of the Firefly Funhouse āmatchā with Wyatt was the whole nWo skit where they lampooned the idea of a Cena heel turn.
Whole crowd singing along to Randy Ortonās walk-on at Crown Jewel was awesome
Cena was too good on the mic a heel run not to be gold. A real shame they never did that.
Thoughts on Gunther
Yeah shame the āwrestlingā was awful after that
Dunno if itās just crown jewel but the quality has definitely taken a dip from what I remember.
I mean look at the series of āsuper kicksā from jey uso in the tag match, thatās supposed to be his finisher and he just whips out 3 or 4 half arsed attempts inside 15 seconds.
