Four people in there with the surname von Erich, did a quick Google and three of them were suicides. Imagine that happening in your family, fuck.
Iām a bit older than you and remember seeing Kerry Von Erich wrestle in the old AWA promotion. Yeah, 4 of the 5 sons have died under tragic circumstances.
That website makes for some grim reading. These guys are just ābrokenā when they get into their 30s/40s and many of them canāt overcome their demons. Makes the movie āThe Wrestler,ā all that much more real portraying these guys near the end of their careers.

Yes, crazy indeed and no surprise about a pain killer addiction. Guy must have been popping those like tic tacs.
The old AWA used to be on an like a 6 hour block of wrestling on Saturday nights that Iād see as a kid. Old WWF took up an hour, then regional promotions like the AWA, NWA, etc. Would end up showing Mexican pro wrestling at like 1 AM with these crazy guys having matches with the ring ropes on fire or wrapped in barbed wire. Precursor to some of the crazy theatrics of ECW.
