That match was awesome.
Crowd popped big for Savio Vega and Carlito.
I swear all these PPVs that don’t have good builds or don’t look good on paper more often than not end up being great in the end.

Savio Vega is a fucking legend. I popped hard when he came out
Did you see Bad Bunny almost breaking his neck?
Dude turned at the last second. Close call.
One of those unnecessary spots someone like him shouldn’t be doing. Some of these spots are tough for full-time wrestlers to pull off. Dudes who show up a few times a year certainly don’t need to ne doing that.
Show was pretty good but it did peak with the Bad Bunny match.
That should’ve closed the show.
Btw, can’t believe they had Brock get busted open the hard way and Cody ended up getting the win with a cradle off the Kimura. Cody then ran into the back making it all awkward too. Reckon they kayfabe an injury as an excuse for not being in World Title tournament.
It just seemed rush. It’s like they thought oh fuck there’s blood and called an audible
That looked proper dangerous. Hard to rewatch.
How would you rate the PPV overall? May give it a watch if rated high.
Probably a 7.5, a fine watch.
High praise. Now to try and find it…
Decent watch, as anticipated the Puerto Rican crowd elevated a relatively by the numbers post mania ppv. They really need this new world title, ppvs without one feel like they’re missing something.
Who’s your pick?
Rollins is the obvious one for me but I think it would have been good if a heel won it and Rollins chased him instead.
An opportunity to revitalise AJ maybe?
Seth or Nakamura
So is this a tournament for number 1 contender? Or a Survivor Series 98 kinda thing?
I think it’s got to be an established name and preferably a previous world champion. The new title is up against it in terms of its prestige with it having been created because WWE can’t work out how to get a belt off Roman. It’s not the time for an experiment or someone who has only been a midcarder so far. It needs to be someone with world championship pedigree.
To that end, Lashley, Styles, Edge (to win the title that is the successor to the one he retired without losing?), Balor or Seth would all be fine. It’s a shame Orton isn’t fit, he’d be perfect.
Nakamura would be a great world champion but I don’t think they should do it yet. He needs more building up.
Of those on that list I think Edge is the one I have the most interest in seeing.
There’s a new world title, so WWE can actually have world title matches on PPV regularly with the main belt on Roman.
Nakamura hasn’t actually won it yet has he? They almost did in back 2018(I think?) but ended up not pulling the trigger.
Indeed. I think he’s got enough credentials in the bank to have the best chance of any of the first time champion candidates and in his interviews since returning he’s mentioned wanting to be a world champion even before the new belt was announced so I think they have some interest in finally seriously pushing him.
I just think at the moment they’ve got more work to do to make him ready for a title reign of that magnitude given how poorly they’ve booked him almost his whole main roster run. Also his English is still pretty basic and I can see that being a problem for WWE.
IN YOUR HOUSE: GOOD FRIENDS, BETTER ENEMIES
British Bulldog & Owen Hart vs Ahmed Johnson & Jake Roberts - 5/10
I had no idea this was a tag match until the event started as it had been advertised as Jake vs Bulldog for weeks before it. An okay match, however you can see Jake The Snake is past it as this point and, to be honest, shouldn’t be working big feuds like this in 1996.
Goldust vs Ultimate Warrior - 0/10
One of the worst “matches” I’ve ever seen. And I use the term “matches” very loosely as there is only ONE wrestling move hit in 8 minutes. I don’t blame Goldust or Warrior though, as Goldust injured his knee legit on the pre-show doing a segment with Warrior. This match could have easily been delayed until the next PPV or RAW and have the other matches be given more time.
Vader vs Razor Ramon - 5/10
I found myself struggling to get into this match. Which is a shame, because I love both Vader and Razor in the ring. I think both guys work better with smaller guys so they can bump more for them. It was still a decent match, don’t get me wrong. Just thought it could have been better.
The Bodydonnas vs The Godwinns - 4/10
Did not care for this match. Don’t care about the tag teams. Don’t care about Sunny. It was very sloppy and it’s leading up to one of the worst storylines of 1996.
Diesel vs Shawn Michaels - 9/10
Wow. What a main event. This is basically an ECW match under the WWF banner. It’s the first proper hardcore match we’ve seen. Some brutal bits in the match, with the one that stands out the most being Shawn being hung from the rope by a belt wrapped around his neck. Absolutely fantastic main event.
Final Rating: 5/10
The Godwinns, yuck.
How bloody awful were they? They’re the ones who carried that bucket of sick with them, right?
Yea. They’re pretty crap lol. Desperate times considering they were together for almost 2 years
IN YOUR HOUSE: BEWARE OF DOG
Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs Marc Mero - 4/10
This was OK, I felt HHH spent wayyyyy too long working on Mero’s shoulder. It did pick up towards the end but they left it too late for me to give it anything higher than a 4.
British Bulldog vs Shawn Michaels - 5/10
You can tell when Shawn isn’t working with one of his Kliq boys, because he doesn’t give a shit during the match. And this is certainly the case in this match. He spends the majority of the match putting Davey Boy in rest holds and looks genuinely uninterested. It says a lot when the highlight of a fucking Shawn Michaels match is the ref taking a bump.
Steve Austin vs Savio Vega - 6/10
Match of the night for me. A good match which marks the last WWF appearance of Ted DiBiase for quite a while. There are some awkward looking bumps in this match due to Strap stipulation being in play but the 2 manage to work around it and put on a solid showing.
Vader vs Yokozuna - 3/10
Bruce Prichard claims that Vader and Yoko didn’t want to work this second match and judging by the way the match panned out, I’d say he was right. The first 5 or so minutes are so stop and start, it’s ridiculous. That piled up with Yoko blowing up almost instantly make this a tough watch.
Goldust vs Undertaker - 4/10
Boring match. Goldust hit one of the worst piledrivers I’ve ever seen. Only saving grace for this match was the interference by Mankind setting up his summer feud with Taker.
Final Rating - 4/10
