I did carpentry in my first year at college, really enjoyed the course actually and made a few cool things
This should be part of almost every curriculum.
Very few proactively pursue hard skills.
Atleast give people a taste to see if they would consider it.
in school they have tech, which is kind of a lower version of it
I agree, every person should be taught some form of basic maintenance skills for around the home and especially when it comes to a motor vehicle.
I worked as a carpenter for a couple of years in Norway and it was a fantastic experience, building timber framed houses and log framed cabins, thoroughly enjoyable and great getting to work outside.
I envy you.
