Women's Euro 2025

Ffs I need to take a leak lol

Keeper for Australia was diving so early lol but she made it work. Hats off

I hate penalties more than anything

I feel like Aus were worthy winners though, they rallied incredibly and are fun as hell to watch… but what a shit way to go out for France.

My partner is convinced it’s rigged for Australia to go far as a host. I do love a good sports conspiracy!

What a gift from the Colombian goalie

In the finest tradition of world cups down the decades :grinning:

Qatar being a great way to disprove that conspiracy. They were hilariously bad.

No amount of rigging was getting them out of that group. I’m sure attempts were made :grinning:

Russsssso! Arsenal are winning the world cup!

Sad end

What’s the general mood in England rn? Are people feeling super confident about the match?

It seems to me there’s less awareness and excitement about it than there was for the Euros. That will probably change if the team gets to the final.

Is it a time difference thing? The games are on at really strange hours East Coast.

Possibly. The Euros having been in England might be a factor.

Because we’re missing a few of our best players I’m edging more towards Australia. Our performances so far haven’t been convincing really. And obviously Australia will have the whole stadium on their side.

The timing of matches is fine. Well unless you have to go to work  I work from home, so tomorrow’s 11am kick off works fine for me.

People are interested though. England v Colombia had record viewing figures over here. Over 7 million people watched it over here. Which is massive for a women’s match. Probably helped that it was a Saturday match, but still.

It’s definitely bigger than any previous women’s World Cup. I just feel something is lacking in terms of the atmosphere that surrounded the Euros.

Oh yeah I do agree with that. Can’t beat a home tournament. And yeah, while the viewing figures are there for this tournament, it just seems like an at home watch along. Some pubs have an England flag up, but most have nothing at all.

Still, the possibility of knocking Australia out of any major sporting tournament on their home turf is a glorious proposition.
