Yeah, and when you’re in your 30s, even as a very fit 30+ year old, that drop-off could come out of nowhere and there’s usually not much you can do about it.
Benzema is a good example. Won the Ballon D’Or after an excellent campaign, struggled with fitness issues the following season and his level wasn’t the same either. One of the reasons why he took the Saudi offer.
If we had Saliba, Odegaard and Saka running down contracts and decided to hold on to them because we were confident of winning the league, then went on to do it, I’d be very happy. Of course there will be a rebuilding process but what good is cashing in to rebuild when the league is up for grabs.
No idea why fans keep saying he wants to leave.
In the end, EPL is the best league in the world. Staying with Arsenal is nothing worse than joining a two-team league.
He is still young, does not need to leave right now (or next season).
Here he is actually saying it…love this guy! Top class mentality, in stark contrast with the bottle jobs we used to have playing for us in defence when Arteta took over.
He’ll want to stay until he doesn’t. That’s how it goes, doubt we’ll be able to fault him if and when that happens, feels like it will be professionally done.
They are footballers not Arsenal fans. I don’t expect him to be here for years but hopefully we can win something big before he gets the obvious Madrid move
