William Saliba (2)

That would equate to 29 wins and 87 points. A handful of draws and we’re into 90 point territory which should mean a league title unless City switch on god mode.

Saliba is the absolute rock which our title challenge is built on. If he gets injured for 1 or 2 months, I just can’t see us going all the way.

His fitness will be absolutely key just like it proved to be last season.

How long will this toe injury keep him out for. He better be fit vs. Chelsea

I wouldn’t have thought any time given he took it into the city game.

Looks like he is there now.

Probably the most important player in this team now. Against Sheffield United, he looked like a man playing against boys.

Play him against west ham in the week, I say

Best Center Back I have ever seen since i started watching footie in 2011. Already on a better level than Prime Van Dick imo. Amazing !

Desailly mad that Varane eclipsed his legacy and now Saliba will do the same.

I wonder if his definition of “above average” = “world class”.

Cause he follows it up with saying he’s at a very, very high level.

Which actually suggests he thinks Saliba is 1 tier below World Class…

That’s fair. He can fuck off anyway though.

My boy Varane is clear even though he’s finished now. :sob:

GFFN (Get Fucked French Nonces) on the war path again. Still wounded because he left the farmers league to make a proper name for himself at Arsenal.

Maybe it’s just me, but I sense so much bitterness in their tweets when it’s anything Arsenal related :saliba2:

stop putting Mentos in your Coke bro, he is 22 years old. relax.

You really have to wonder what didn’t Arteta & Edu see in Saliba that they sent him to Marseille on loan?
We really could have used him that season

I think it’s been clarified that he wanted that summer?

It was previous season that Arteta banished him to the U21s and in fairness to Arteta, Saliba at that point was still pretty raw and as he admitted himself, he arrived unfit at Arsenal due to COVID ending the French season prematurely.

Do you think the options we had back then were any better than a raw Saliba?

The English guy that is or was behind the account supposedly a spurs fan

I saw him at Saint-Etienne before he arrived and while I saw a player with a huge potential, I wouldn’t say he would certainly start at Arsenal at the time. Even with guys like Holding, Mustafi, Luiz, Papa, Chambers among others.
And that’s before the whole COVID situation and him arriving in a bad shape.

After he was omitted from the squad, there were even concerns at U21 level as well. The feedback wasn’t great as he appeared to struggle. I remember Jeorge Bird talking about it.

I’ll be honest, I don’t remember seeing many or any games of him at Nice. He apparently did well there by the end but I do remember every week or so especially at the start seeing clips of goals they conceded due to his mistakes.

Had those happened here, with our state at the time, it may have been too much and fans could have turned on Saliba. There’s other things to consider as well, he arrived here at only 19 years and I believe he lost both his parents at that time too. He surely must’ve been going through a lot.

Going away and continuing his development was a good call for me, even in hindsight.

I remember when they said Gabriel was right footed.

They loved what Rob Holding brought to the group in terms of locker room chemistry. :gabriel:

I did not like that decision but I think Saliba came back as a much improved player.
We might play him here and there throughout the season, but definitely we would not give him enough minutes to grow.

No need to look back again.
