And yet people sneered at the fee and us agreeing to loan him back a year. Look, sometimes these deals work out, sometimes they don’t and sometimes they exceed all expectations. We all heard this guy was good, but this is another level. They need to lock him (and Saka) up pronto. The idea of losing him on a free in 18 months when Liverpool need to replace VVD is nauseating.
The lack of news on a contract is starting to get a bit worrying. I’m more confident about Saka but really the same boat.
Foden will reportedly sign a new deal this week and Reece James signed a new deal a few weeks ago - both seem likely in the 200-250k per week range. As much as Arsenal would probably like for Saliba and Saka to sign deals that fit into our wage structure, those are probably the reference points for agents and if Arsenal want to keep top talents we’re going to have to play similar wages to top talents at other clubs.
IMO, if we have to pay Saka and Saliba 200k+ per week and put them up there with Jesus and Partey as our top earners that’s just what we have to do. Its not realistic to expect them to take 140k or something when other top young players are getting far more.
