What was the last film you watched?

I’ve been meaning to watch this for a while.

Have you seen it before?

Nope, but it’s been in my backlog alongside sime other Korean films.

It is exceptional film making but also very fucked up. I highly recommend. Would love to know what you think if you watch it…

Sounds like you don’t need to be warned, but whatever you do, don’t watch the American remake instead.

The Phoenician Scheme (2025)

Wes Anderson movie about a dodgy, unscrupulous businessman and his trials and tribulations in trying to save his latest business venture and his own life from the many assassination attempts carried out by pretty much everyone he’s ever known. Ever.

and also connect with his daughter who have gave up as a child and who became a nun.

I’ve really wanted to like Wes Anderson movies again but this one was actually just boring. I did love watching Benicio Del Toro’s performance which is just very enjoyable to watch. I didn’t really care for the story nor for the performances of the other actors and actresses involved.

Blink and you miss them performances by Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Scarlett Johansson, Riz Ahmed, Jeremy Wright.

But the biggest disappointment was I expected more screen time and a better showing from Richard Ayoade. His character wasn’t funny and wasn’t in it for very long either.

Kate Winslet’s nepo-daughter, Mia Threapleton, did a fine job.

Oh and Benedict Cumberbatch was in it, also.

Poor show and as I read from someone else “the best bits were in the trailer.”

Was very sad that I didn’t get to watch Becoming Led Zeppelin at the movie theater, but finally got round to seeing it on Netflix.

It’s very much one for the fans, and didn’t really teach me anything I didn’t already know, but thoroughly enjoyable nonetheless.

I grew up close to where Peter Grant used to live. His daughter used to babysit me! JP not too far either.

I hardly ever go to the cinema these days but I had to go and see this. Wasn’t disappointed in the slightest if anything it exceeded it

Wes Anderson hasn’t been good since The Grand Hotel Budapest.

His last film I watched was the French dispatch and it was basically just shit.

Heard Asteroid City was shit as well, so this doesn’t surprise me.

He essentially got high on his own supply, and started liking the smell of his own farts and became a flanderised version of himself to the point that his films are unwatchable now.

Fantastic Mr Fox is his best hands down.

I tend to agree. Although I’d go as far back as that movie with the Boy Scouts.

Wes is all fart and no poo. His films lack any depth or substance. The reason why so many actors want to work with him is because it’s easy money, like going on vacation. It’s not as if any performers are being put through the wringer like it’s Kubrick or Hitchcock. Just quirky little giggles for the luvvies.

Dog shot director.

Went to watch 28 Weeks Later.

Meh

Anyone seen F1 yet? I’m hearing good things in terms of it being in the mold of traditional Hollywood action/sports movie.
I was a bit dubious about going to see it, what with all the sports-washing now associated with the sport, and figured the movie would showcase and glorify such shenanigans, but I hear Lewis Hamilton is in Volvos with the production, and he tends to be okay by me.

Planning on going this weekend. Heard good things so far.

Looks like a good old summer popcorn flick.
