Forest Fire, Lloyd Cole and the Commotions.
Casablancas couldn’t sing, and the band couldn’t play for shit, but loved that first Strokes album and played it until lasers cut holes in the CD. They quickly turned to shit thereafter.
Picked up a vinyl copy of Is This It recently. Original cover - not that Microsoft screensaver shit you’ll see in a screensaver thumbnails.

Definitely check out Rattlesnakes, it’s one of my favorite albums of the ‘80s. I started out with a best of compilation many many years ago. It had a picture of an old disused swimming pool on the cover. It was released after band had parted ways.
Lloyd Cole went solo shortly after. He was my first concert at the Brighton Dome. I bought a shirt from the gig, wore it to school - the teachers thought it was a picture of Charles Manson.
