Or his girlfriend’s parent’s expectations. Devastating.

Yeo, doubling down on long term project and backing Arteta to lead them.
We’re definitely not getting Conte if Mikel gets the sack.
My guess is Rodgers, Gerrard and Potter will be candidates.

“Whilst we would love to jump from where we are to where we want to be in an instant, we need to be realistic that the gap is too large to do that. As such, our activity this window has been focused on youth.

“Our strategy is to fill our squad with some of Europe’s most exciting young talent, with players from both our academy and further afield, that can grow and develop together under Mikel to take us where we want to get to.

“Whilst this will not be overnight, we can make positive progress, and it gives us the best route to future success in a sustainable way.”

Oh we’re fucked royally…

This will not work.

It also doesn’t really mesh well with what we just did in this window. We bought a GK for 25m and a CB for 58m. Those are prices you pay for ready made players not young guys you have to develop into good players.

Was giving Vinai the benefit of the doubt up until now. He, Arteta and Edu need to leave, this is bad strategy that has been executed horribly.

What youth project starts with a £150m splurge!? Buying average talents at or above market rates. How are you outsmarting the market?

This is the same unsuccessful strategy we had during mid to late Wenger years, the difference is; we now buy those young profiles at a premium, and we coach them by an intern.

That is a very revealing look at what the club is set on doing. However it’s not as though they plugged the gaps in the squad. The quality depth is not there at all.

Players like Saliba and Maitland-Niles should be featuring as prominent members of the squad for this to make sense.

They’re trying to build a team around players that might become world class in 2/3 years.

We’ve been down this road before. It’s good to have many talented young players but they still have to have established top quality players to play alongside too in key positions.

Why not sign Bissouma even if you keep Xhaka? It’s not like we are stacked with quality players in midfield. We get so many injuries and dumb absences we should be preparing for this. You can make the same argument for other areas too. It’s just not enough.

That is an astonishing thing for anyone at the club to say and it proves they have no sense of self awareness or shame.

It’s these decision makers that are running the club who have made the gap too large.
Unbelievable.

Hate to nitpick but where you getting 58m from :joy:

Imagine being an Auba/Tierney/Laca etc and getting a text message from Vinai admitting that we have to accept we are shit and we’re only going to improve through ‘positive progress’ via a long term plan.

I mean, he’s not wrong but fucking hell I don’t see how that rallies any motivation into some of our players who already appear well checked out from taking any responsibility.

Bleak arse times.

Or at least pair that statement with an explanation of why that gap is “too large.”

Front up and explain that there’s been mismanagement, that the club’s contracts are a mess or that KSE hired the wrong people.

We’re trying to do this youth thing which is fine but I’m very concerned about how we’re spending the money. It feels very Everton right? Michael Keane, Jordan Pickford, Townsend, Bernard, James, it’s all just fine.

What makes our situation worse is we have a coach who doesn’t know how to rally his players. There’s only so many times you can go to the stick over the carrot before people just tune you out.

Was Camavinga totally unattainable if this was our strategy?

Some of our failures are this age category of player holding us back.
If your not good enough your not attractive to other teams.
The whole world knows who the youth talents are now.
It’s 20 years out of date. Convincing themselves of something that’s never going to work again. Bollocks.

Wenger had legit world class talent in RVP and Cesc and the remains of the Invincibles to do this project and still didn’t succeed. It’s supposed to work with Xhaka as the fulcrum of the midfield for the next 4 years alongside all this mediocre talent?

I have a bridge to sell.

That is just a twisted way of saying, we realize that clubs like Leicester, West Ham, Aston Villa have overtaken us and we can see the deep shit we have to muddle through and we are fully expecting to finish 10th or below and this is just a prologue indicating what’s to come. These dickheads have absolutely capitalized on our weak mentality as a fan base and using a world-class PR team to manipulate us into becoming mediocre minds.

He would need 3 years of loans before he qualified for the Arsenal 21-23 long term development programme.
