Yup, the 9 market is just dire. Fewer technically-focused players in general and the most gifted attackers want to be wingers/wide forwards because they grew up idolizing Messi and Ronaldo.
The two best 9s under 24 seem to be Sesko and Ekitike and neither is anywhere close to the finished article.
So many young strikers that were talked up in recent years have totally flamed out or just not taken the next step - Hojlund, Zirkzee, Vitor Roque, Vlahovic, Goncalo Ramos, Darwin, Kolo Muani, its a long and undistinguished list.

Just putting 2+2 together but I reckon this situation must’ve been caused by some team looking to make an actual move for him only to find out that Sporting have a completely valuation of the player.
Not sure if that team is us or someone else.

I didn’t really believe the reports about the president suddenly raising the price at the start, but seems it’s all true.

Have zero empathy for him and his agent/s.
Sporting are well within their right to demand the best fee possible for their best player and someone who’s even been branded as one of the best player to have ever played in Liga Portugal.
If you want to go for a certain fee, get that in writing. As far as I’m aware he’s got a release clause of 80m, so if teams really want him that badly, they should pay that.

Idk who is telling the truth, but Gyokeres should maybe be more angry about his shitty agent. If he was really so desperate about a move this year why didn’t they put a new 65M clause in the contract? Why did they agree to some kind of “gentleman’s agreement”?
Always seemed like a strange story really, now turning into a full on drama.
Idk, the president says he never agreed to a certain amount and just agreed they wont hold to that 100M clause if he wants to go this summer.

Apparently Gyokeres wasn’t even present during those very negotiations, only his agent… 
Sporting obviously have the right to demand as much as they want while he’s under a contract, but if they really promised to sell him for the reported fee it’s not looking good on them.
It does look strange how the president never denied an agreement about them letting him go for around 65M durong the season, while that was being reported for almost a year now.
All of a sudden he’s out and says that kind of agreement doesn’t exist, very strange.
Tbf, going back to everything, I’ve repeated many times, it always seemed strange for the to let him go for such a modest fee, in the current market totally devoid of decent 9s.
Now we’re back to real life.
It doesn’t seem to me like Gyokeres will be cheaper than Sesko and maybe more expensive given he probably wants higher wages. Sesko will have lots of time to get additional contracts whereas this is likely Gyokeres best chance to strike gold.
