Viktor Gyökeres

This is highly impressive. A hack for the ages against a multinational company. I mean skulduggery of the highest level. You are a useful man to know!

I am definitely going to give this a go! Although they can keep the mushrooms - no place for those with Pepperoni!

It’s not even end morning and I’m already starting to regret my choices.

I look 5 months pregnant.

Another lil tidbit

He has 15 goals in 26 for Sweden whereas Isak has 16 goals in 52 appearances :eyes:

Mind boggling that the reports suggest we’re going for Sesko instead of this guy. Crazy.

Just out of interest, and leaving aside your personal preference, how confident are you now out of 10, that we will sign Gyokeres?

We don’t know anything really about who we’re going for.

But if Gyokeres was such a sure thing, we’d have a lot more competition for him.

as in competition from other clubs? I mean Liverpool just had 1 other club in contention for Wirtz right? (Bayern) and they appear to have gotten him.

If they go in for Isak, I don’t see anyone competing with them because of the fee too.

Gyokeres costs 60m, which is not a lot these days. If he was truly such a great bet to come to the PL and bang in 20-25 goals then he’d be the #1 striker target of Liverpool, Chelsea, United, PSG, maybe Real Madrid since they don’t have a true striker, etc.

You guys make it out like Gyokeres is such an obvious transfer and yet somehow the club is so stupid they can’t see it but there is a much simpler, Occam’s Razor, explanation: Its not an obvious transfer.

Just because they aren’t going for him doesn’t mean that can’t or won’t happen

Top clubs get it wrong all the damn time, you yourself haven spoken about City’s iffy business multiple times, look at Chelsea’s, United’s, what Juventus did with Huijsen et al

The absence of an all out war doesn’t mean he won’t be a true top striker in this league, it’s no given but there’s a good enough chance as well

We’re the only club alongside Man Utd that have concrete links to Gyokeres.

And I wonder if that’s because the ground work has been done with the player some time ago on our side and/or, because of Amorim’s direct link with Gyokeres, having managed him recently.

True, but this fee is due to his release clause rather than his ability.

I can kinda understand why Liverpool probably want Isak instead, probs because he’s EPL proven. I’m not sure of the others, but I think Gyokeres would be an idiot to even speak to Chelsea or Man Utd under any circumstances given their respective situations. Especially Man Utd.

I think AFC still won’t win the league if we go into next season with the following:

  • Sesko, Martinelli, Rodrygo, Havertz, Saka, Trossard

This forward line imho is still heavily lacking firepower. But perhaps the club sees something that none of us do regarding Sesko over Gyokeres hence why Berta is there and I’m at home hehe.

When we get it wrong (Lokonga, Vieira etc al) it then becomes a weak talent ID etc.

We can’t have it all.

I’m not saying he definitely won’t bang or that top clubs don’t get it wrong all the time. But I do know who has far less ability to judge players than top clubs: people like us. That’s why it’s foolish to make this out like some kind of black and white obvious decision.

You may be right but that’s how it tends to go with these things, people have their preferecnes based on very little or a lot

But at least with Gyokeres I see someone who is not just a goal scorer but a very well rounded striker that is capable of the pressing to boot.

Considering our window I’ll take that over what Sesko is at this stage of his development every time
