Bloody hell, those numbers are atrocious. I suggested Wolves would be embarrassed to have him, and on that evidence, I bet that’s not far from the truth.
To be fair my memory of anything in football that isn’t Arsenal is atrocious.
As is my memory of things that are Arsenal related after about 2009.
Yep. Literally world class for those couple of seasons before he just fell apart with all the injuries.
Was unjustly too much in Suarez’ shadow. He had a brilliant season too in 2014, and was Liverpool’s best player for a while after Suarez left.
His goalscoring rate was mad at the time and was always scoring banger goals. Simply too fragile to remain at that level for longer.
Sturridge was absolute world class striker at his prime
World class is a stretch but he had bags of potential and on his day was a good player
People forget that Sturridge was pretty much a wonderkid at City and had a serious impact at Chelsea (Playing off the right) as well before moving to Liverpool. Such a good player.
This is a Championship game, we may need Viktor today…Jesus is too silky for this.
Sturridge was the best striker I’ve ever seen in my time watching football. On top of that, he was an absolutely wonderful dancer.
He was kinda branded as an overhyped young talent, after he didn’t really make it at City or Chelsea and that affected his reputation later on, even though he was performing brilliantly at Liverpool basically whole the time, while he was fit.
I remember some stats of his during that time, his goalscoring rate was absolutely world class, and he was scoring no easy tap in’s btw. Usually very difficult goals, and was always creating for others too.
Only Thicc Ronaldo holds up against a primed, Anfield injected Sturridge to be honest mates.
Pretty sure he top scored at Chelsea. Might have even been during a Champions League win. It might not have been the Champions League but he definitely played a key part in them winning something.
He didn’t go to Liverpool as a Chelsea flop.
Sturridge only really had one season where he showed how good he might be. Injury took it away from him but there can’t be any serious discussion on him being world class on the back of one season.
Yeah, he wasn’t a flop, I wasn’t clear enough. He did well, just wasn’t really as brilliant as expected because he was getting a lot of hype in those early City days.
Video basically starts at 1:30.

.
Yeah that was a garbage run, if you can even call it a run as much as just jogging in a straight line.
Even if he thinks ‘oh fucking hell he’ll probably cut back and go to timber or Odegaard for the 1000th time’ … you have to make the run every time and just moan when the ball doesn’t come.
I’m sure he has the strikers instinct, you don’t score so many goals without it, but that certainly isn’t showing it.
He’s a winger at heart.
He’s a farmer at heart.
Surely his best performance at the club? Great awareness and positioning for his first goal, neat hold up to set up Zubimendi.
Best #9 in the world currently
Love
In all likelihood, it was a poor decision to sign him. But that’s not his fault and he can’t have been enjoying himself this last while.
I’m happy he was able to produce this tonight.
