Upcoming Video Games

Oh yeah I almost shelled out $30 for Mafia but it was free on PSNow. Awesome game. The sequels were shit though.

I’ve used it a ton recently, played Nier Automata, MGS4, Resident Evil Revelations and Tlou2 had it for about 3 months. Tremendous value but I didn’t renew as I had played what I wanted

Yeah, had it for a month. Played some games included with it but it wasn’t enough to keep me past keeping the subscription further.

They really need to expand their classic library even further in my opinion. Ideally they also find a way to run these games natively instead of streaming them. What could be a game changer for them is to somehow integrate trophies for PS1, PS2, PSP and early PS3 games. That will give some people more motivation to stick around and 100% their old favourites.

Ffvii remake sucked, but this is awesome

It really did, what a boring game.

Is this what the nerds were jizzing over in 1995? None of it makes sense either

I CBA finishing it

Lol, he’s talking about the remake. I know people that would fucking lose it if you said that about the original.

The original is one of the best games ever made and in no way comparable.

The Midgar section in they original story lasts around 2-3 hours of 40-50 hour story. In the remake it’s a 30 fucking hour drawn out segment. Total microcosm of what modern gaming is, the sad thing is that tons of people lapped it up, including some people who were around for the original and should know better.

2-3 fucking hours of story stretched out to 30 hours just so they can sell the rest of the story in further segments.

I fucking hate long games, especially ones that are unnecessarily stretched out.
I know people want their money’s worth but it’s often the case that you get quantity over quality.

I’m the same I can’t do it anymore. I’ve got a new rule with gaming where I just won’t play open worlds unless they look to be generational. Can’t do all the superfluous horseshit that makes a game stretch from 12-20 hours to 50-60.

Give me a taut exciting story and and solid and fun gameplay and leave out shit like me having to chase down stray dogs or deliver post to people.

Resident Evil games are my favourite for this, you get like 10 solid hours of great fun and batshit Japanese story telling and you finish up before you burn out.

Played Soma the other weekend- 5-6 hours of edge of your seat emotional horror with some fantastic philosophical narratives. The games that stick with me are the ones I finish before I burn out from

SOMA was great. Great ending.

Any thoughts on PS VR2?
Didn’t give the first generation a go as I’ve been burned by Sony’s gimmicks before but the new one looks really interesting.

Could be pretty expensive too.

Anyone got updated news regarding GPU’s? I need a new card and they’re still insanely priced cos of Covid and shortage of metals needed to build them. If they’re even available at all!

no that’s spot on lol

CES2022 (tech event for this type of stuff) started yday and will run throughout the weekend I think, I’m not really paying too much attention to it, you’ll probably get more news there or right after if you care, it’s probably exactly what you say/expect lol

Nvidia just unveiled their 3090ti which will probably cost more than the rest of a normal new computer, they also yday mentioned an RTX3050 which might be a decent less expensive option (funny how nvidia suddenly starts throwing budget alternatives out the moment amd starts banging out gpus again  ) sweclockers link here because you speak elvish:

Nvidia avtäcker Geforce RTX 3050 – lanseras 27 januari

I haven’t paid attention to what amd has got going recently but if they have something new there’s a good chance you’ll be able to find good condensed info somewhere on the internet at the beginning of next week when the event is over.

Looks awesome. I had the first gen PSVR, it was ok. Not enough games and the existing game library is full of boring low quality games.

Oh, and the whole mess of wires and huge helmet is a negative.

Look, it’s this argument again.

Surely more content is a good thing in this day and age of half finished games that need DLC a few days after launch.

Just because there’s 500 hours of content doesn’t mean you have to complete it all lol

The main campaign and side quests is the most important, all those other weird little “find all the items” etc challenges are just pointless anyway and I’ve never understood why people bothered with them

Tell that to a completionist with limited time.

That’s the vibe I get from the second tweet you posted. But Cristo is right, and this guy is being a bit dumb.

I understand the completionist mindset, when there’s a game that I really love, I’m that guy who will happily collect every single little trinket on the map, hoovering up every single side bit of side content until there’s nothing left. This weekend my time spent gaming has consisted solely of trying to perfect the combat and stealth challenges on Arkham Asylum lol, simply cos I’ve got a small handful of trophies left to get in order to bag the platinum. But you need to know when to walk away lol.

Some games require more time and/or skill than I have in order to get all the achievements/a platinum trophy, if that’s the case then I just write off being able to indulge my completionist tendencies and play the game until I finish the story or have had my fun with it.

What’s really stupid, and totally cutting your nose off to spite your face, is refusing to play a game that might be incredible and you might absolutely love, just because you are unable/unwilling to get to 100% completion because it’d take too much time.

Sad.
