Upcoming Video Games

From what I’ve read they kind of thought it would be 2080 level performance. I reckon there will be a few tricks to allow 60FPS @ 4k - something like DLSS upscaling. If you think about it, a 2080 can do Red Dead 2 at 4k at about 45fps. Next gen game engines are going to have shedloads more textures than Red Dead 2. So I’ll need some upscaling tech.

Just recently 3080 has dropped which is 30% faster than a 2080ti

@Sol it’s complicated, these components aren’t out yet, they’ll launch around the time consoles do, but their current equivilents in the PS5 are probably 5700 XT and 3700, they will be faster versions of these but underclocked to keep heat output down, which slow them down. So on launch I’d guess a PS5 will be near to 70% or so of a 3080 or Big Navi - so bloody close. And everything will be optimised for the console so arguably this 70% isn’t even there, so if you don’t have a gaming PC it’ll be a great buy and a good one even if you don’t.

Yeah that’s the reason why I have moved more towards console gaming compared to 10 years ago. I dropped about £1,300 on a gaming PC in 2010 but don’t want to spend that sort of money on a PC now. I still use that same PC today although it’s started to show it’s age recently (games keep crashing and updating / rolling back driver updates don’t work - can’t be arsed to investigate it thoroughly). A PS5 or Xbox for £300-400 is the right bang for buck.

I was just curious how the hardware / performance compares when the cost is so much less than top end rigs. The fact that they make loads of money on the games makes a lot of sense.

Thanks for the insight chaps :+1:

Yeah can’t go wrong with a console. I love tech I love having the latest and greatest but really at the end of the day the experience, ease of use and convenience you get from a console is unparalleled in my experience. I got my console on either side of the TV stand, whenever I want I just pick up the controller and play (not that I really have that much time anymore). No need to worry about drivers, different gaming libraries a la steam or epic or origin, all my friends online. Plus I Would say that graphically (on consoles) most games have been at a place for at least the last 10 years, were they Look so good you really don’t a powerful PC anymore. With this generation the jump being even greater than it has been since the 90s and the performance being close to top tier machines. Really can’t go wrong either way.

Never gave in fully to become a PC junkie.
A couple of my friends had their phase until reality hit them.
Either they ended up not using their PCs enough to warrant spending so much money to maintain them or their budget wasn’t allowing them to sustain spending money on their PC every so often.

Then you have Sony and Nintendo releasing some banger exclusives, which meant the only way to play those was to buy a console anyway.

Best combination this current gen is owning a PS4 and a Switch. Seems like PS5 will be a worthy successor to PS44.

Such a well put together console.

Starting to believe the hands-on guys who said PS5 was actually quite and cold too while playing games.
Gamechanger.

Cyberpunk delayed again till early Dec

Is this the 4th time now?
Clearly supporting this for current gen is dragging them back.
Getting worried now that Xbox Series S is gonna hold back a lot of 3rd party games for next gen.

Bad reviews for both XBOX consoles today and now someone’s XBOX is already broken.

Hoping PS5 doesn’t end up the same.

And PS5 reviews are out. Check the thread from MysticRyan below, it has listed some of the notable information we learned today.

Never buy on launch…

Bought Cold War today, waiting for it to finish downloading!

Let’s see how it turns out. I don’t have high hopes but from the looks of the trailer they seem to have worked on something that I always hated in fight night (footwork).

I bet the roster will be shit lol
