If Emery was still here, he’d be out there making us fight for Top 4, not going for the title. And think that’s who he is: good enough for a Top 4 spot, but not good enough to be a title challenger.
I’m not ranking them guys lol, just showing the order in which (I think) they arrived here
Chances he could take Villa to become a mainstay top 4-6 club? They could end up being the Arsenal of 2010-2017 and on an odd year, winning domestic + european trophies (Europa). A far cry away from the Villa I knew.
Emery must have been given assurances about spending and his best players staying for him to sign a new contract.
Because outside of Arteta, Klopp and Guardiola, there aren’t many better PL managers and with so many big clubs looking for a new manager he would have been a very attractive option for a lot of them.
Happy for him. Seems he found his club, Villa found the right manager too.
Not so sure about that. Would be huge if he achieves that.
Taking them to top 4 is one thing, but keeping them there, even for a few seasons is something completely different.
The next season will be much much harder for Emery I assume. All the opponent teams will take them more serious, the fans expectations and the pressure will grow… We’ll se how he copes with that.
Surely he will need an even better squad for the next season even if he only wants to keep the current positon.

Oh really?
This was Villa exercising their one year option to add another year into his existing deal rather than a new contract.
Good for Emery, he’s doing a great job and it’d very impressive considering where they were when he first joined. He’s improved their players but also improved himself as a coach.
At this rate I do think he’ll be back at another big club before too long though.
And fail at the big club, back to a Top 4/6 chasing team, do well there and again get a chance at another big club. Rinse and repeat in the Emery circle.
Perhaps, but he’s not the same coach as he was here.
That may set him in good stead somewhere else.
Matthaus already suggested Bayern to consider Emery to succeed Tuchel.
Possible, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see if he’s got better at just being a better Top 4 manager or indeed gotten better to hit that next level.
probably means in reality that he will be sacked next season
…and perhaps he got the support he deserved.
It would be hilarious if he bottles CL qualification with Villa from this point
He felt bad about costing Arsenal the league title by beating us
So now rolling over to give spurs hope and incentive to beat city
