Unai Emery

Infinitely bigger than the clubs Arteta has won trophies at :giroud3:

I get that. But with Emery I’m like for 90% sure his Arsenal stint is going to be like the last two seasons with a genuine outlook at Europa League success. At least around the appointment of Arteta there would be some mystery.

If it goes through it’s most definitely an underwhelming appointment in light of his time at PSG, prior to he seemed a good upcoming manager.

Didn’t like what I saw at PSG particularly in the CL most recently when he took Cavani off for a defender when they were still in the game against Real with the score at 1-1 in the first leg.

We’ll have to get behind him and I hope he can revert back to shades of himself at Sevilla because if we’re getting the dude at PSG then we are well and truly fucked.

I was starting to accept the mystery box that is Arteta and now it’s like meh.

Is this gospel that we’ve got Unai ?

Can he fix the defense? Otherwise we’re fucked irregardless.

Your idea of a ‘clear philosophy’ is a seriously strange one.

This club is making me fucking hate watching football.

This is why I’m not excited at all now. I’ll still support him of course but it seems he was the only one who wanted the job which says something about our stature at the moment. The way some people talk there should have been loads of interest for the job

You think he can redeliver what he did with Valencia during their financial difficulties? Also a specialist in Europa league.

Says a lot that Arteta turned this opportunity down?

Clearly didn’t like the way he factored into the decision making process.

Gazidis was someone pliable and firmly under control.

You’re feeling meh about it for what look like some really daft reasons to be honest.

This whole fiasco has gotten people too excited and away from the real professional reality that is this business.

We all want progress ultimately. He’s not here to satisfy our Twitter led wet dreams of a would be manager. He’s here to do serious WORK. No fucking about.

We’re at that stage where we need solidity and professionalism driven through all levels of this club. On a footballing level we need to catch up with the times especially with our positional play, off the ball work and decision-making. It’s a big job and he’s a serious cat.

He’s shown pedigree at this level. PSG hired him for a reason.

Why is this in The Arsenal section when it’s not even moley official yet?

We will not progress under Unai Emery from where we have been the past 10 years. Unless Europa League success is that.

Am I? What are the daft reasons?

There are many reasons I – and other people – don’t like this appointment.

Those tweets above highlight some of those reasons. If I’m daft, then so are many others.

This is a Moyes esque appointment. I feel like breaking my fast. Tears in my eyes. FFS man.

Death is unknown but it doesn’t excite me one bit.

This Arteta is an unknown thing is about as daft a reason as it gets. Absolutely ridiculous level of risk in that appointment (even if the balls it takes to consider that is commendable).

Julian Laurens on 5 Live is making me feel a whole lot better about this appointment tbf :+1:

What’s he saying?

Sounds like a shit version of Wenger. Have to say this has deflated me somewhat.

With Arteta there was that risky mystery element. Emery just seems like more of the same, business as usual.
