Unai Emery

Go into the matchday chat and look at some of the reactions post-match from our guys here, it could suggest otherwise.

Besides, whethers it’s FA Cup or CL final - I don’t want to see our rivals scoring as many goals in as many minutes and then doing moonwalk celebrations on our turf.

No arsenal fan wants to see rivals score against us. But putting a sub standard defender on will surely encourage rival teams to attack. Didn’t see the point of mustafi actually being in the squad. prior to his entrance utd didn’t have a shot. He comes on and 2 fly in back of the net. Coincidence or poor management. ???
As far as the fa cup is concerned for us its done more harm than good. We are now 2 half decent defenders down along with the other injuries.
So what next we play league games with mustsfi at the heart of the defence.

C’mon, this is just silly. The only reason Mustafi was on the pitch was because we had an injury to Sokratis and we were forced into the change; calling it poor management is just ridiculous.

Holding is out, and if he wasn’t he’d be our third choice, or maybe even second choice centre-back right now but we don’t have that luxury. Mustafi is too poor too often and not up to Arsenal standard in the end, but to blame the manager for not wanting to throw a kid into the deep end and instead having an experienced CB on the bench makes no sense.

If Emery could get a defender in tomorrow to improve on the quality of Mustafi, of course he would, but it isn’t that easy to do that at this club right now. He’s stuck with him and it isn’t his fault at all.

So instead of throwing in an inexperienced kid he put on a player who he knew would concede. ???
I want Emery to succeed but the wenger esq stuff has to go

Serious question- who here thinks Calum Chambers is worse than Mustafi? I don’t think either of them are Arsenal quality, but Chambers is getting game time and getting used to the demands of the PL at Fulham. Even though they’re shipping goals like crazy over there, it doesn’t appear to be down to Chambers (although you’re never under the magnifiying glass as much with Fulham so he may just be getting away with it)

Replace Mustafi for the more versatile Chambers. Recall him in my opinion :+1:

Honestly mate, I do. Struggling to find a home for him here when he returns from loan.

Yeah, but in midfield. He was a liability when playing in defence, but seems to be thriving in midfield. Not really sure what that means for his future to be honest.

I suppose the same can be said of AMN and Karl Jenkinson. Jenks has been a massive disappointment but I don’t think AMN is taking the opportunity much better. At a club like Arsenal, I genuinely feel that the “churning out” of youngsters ought to be quicker (i.e. you’ve had a chance for a few games, you’re playing nothing like you were in the U21s, bye). We’ve always got more youngsters itching to take their place.

Give Jenkinson the place back as he’s a natural RB

The squad NEEDS to be gutted. We need to reset

Yeah they need to blow the team up, unfortunately that requires money.

I genuinely don’t think it’s that bad. Playing your better players would helps bit too.

Bin Mustafi and Xhaka and you’re basically halfway there.

3 man midfield of Guendouzi, Torreira and Ozil sounds pretty good imo.

Rubbish. The lad exceeded all expectations.

Emery Out. Sick and tired of him basing our midfield around the shitshows like Xhaka and Ramsey while freezing Ozil out. Why the feck is he still persisting with Xhaka FFS

@AbouCuellar was right.

His expectation was to make the RB place his own so, no, he hasn’t exceeded expectations

He’s pulling your leg mate :joy:

If you seriously expected that off a near 20 year old we signed from Charlton for million quid when Sagna was probably in the top 2/3 RBs in the legaue then fair enough.

He must have too much time on his hands. Sarcastic responses etc.

I manage my time well thanks very much. But you can see above why I believe Jenks exceeded expectations.

If his expectation was never to play for Arsenal because of Sagna in spite of the fact that we signed him then yes, he exceeded expectation.

You know that’s not why he was signed though. No one is ever signed not to play. Therefore, he hasn’t exceeded expectation

He was 100% signed as a back up so it definitely wasn’t the plan to play him unless needed/the first choice was being rested. There was no possible scenario where he displaced Sagna.
