Remember when Matthijs and Frenkie were the hottest properties around?

He’s been really hit and miss. Has definitely not justified the outlay on wages and the transfer fee.

Mind you he’s better than Bonucci lol. Guy is consistently poor

Makes you really appreciate how dominant Chiellini was. Think he covers a lot of Bonucci’s brainfarts.

Yeahh. Barzagli was a real unsung hero for that Juventus defensive line. Without a doubt the best defender of the trio too.

Chiellini was a big part of Bonucci summer euro success that’s for sure

Lol, my timeline is full of Arsenal fans giving their opinion on Toney. I thought we were legit linked with him but it looks like another Zaha where Arsenal Twitter are the ones pushing for this.

I didn’t realize people still wanted Toney?

Football Twitter is weird. Every month or even week they pick a different player to dream over.

Tbf, if you want someone to replace Laca you probably go with him. His goals have dried up this year, moreso due to Brentford’s system but be does so much besides that. Presses, wins duels, playmaking, etc.
He’s at a good age too and he seems to be a leading figure in his dressing room.
If he starts scoring again everyone will be all over him.

Hard pass on Toney. Two non-penalty goals all season so far is really a putrid return.

Ok, so apparently this is all because of a comp on Twitter.

Toney is a good striker but I’d still prefer Watkins.

I’d rather we signed neither. That’s not the level of striker we should be aspiring to sign. Neither of them have a ceiling high enough to justify any kind of outlay

In fairness that was a lot of people’s mentality with Ramsdale too.

I wouldn’t be completely against giving someone like Toney or Watkins a go, they live off scraps at their clubs and they might embrace the step up to a team that might create more opportunities for them. Our attackers have been carving out chances for a while now if you think been to the Toon game when Auba didn’t want to finish his dinner.

The only issue is your probably looking at Ā£50 million for one of these young strikers and if it turns out they’re just a bit trash we’re stuck here with them. I think it’s why I was so high on the idea of big money for Greenwood, his talent is undeniably there and you don’t have to wonder if he’s being held back by playing for a shite team.

So do people trust Arteta and co. to bring a new star striker in after the last transfer window?

Tbh they way the teams evolving I don’t think fans prediction on signings will match Arteta. There’s a range of different options with our attacking now and it could go in a range of different ways.
Doesn’t necessarily mean it’s as one dimensional as a out and out striker now.

That’s the power of the compilation video man, I’m basically now on board with making him top priority for January.

Thing is, you could probably put together a compilation of Iwobi’s best first touches and through balls at Everton and convince me we should re-sign him for Ā£45 million.

I agree, but this is Arsenal not Man City or Chelsea.
Kroenke has already given Arteta 200m to spend and as much as I’d like Sterling or Haaland, the sort of striker we are realistically going to get will be Watkins, Toney or DCL.

Go get the Swedes Isak and Kulu

True. I’ve watched him plenty this season and the last. I think the compilation captures a bit of what he is about. Guy has a massive presence in the pitch.
Works his ass off, wins duels and he’s a real pain for defenders.
He looks like he’s 6’3 but apparently he’s under 6’0. Could be another one like Chambers and White who seem to have their heights wrong.
I think the main difference this season is that his goals dried up due to Brentford being more pragmatic(they’re nothing like Norwich who still haven’t learned their lesson) but weirdly his playmaking has been highlighted much more. I always thought he was a smart player with his lay offs and had potential to work on his hold up play if he got a big move but it doesn’t look like he needs it at all.
His playmaking is incredible for a striker.
Liverpool imo should be all over him. It was interesting to see Klopp and him chat a few months ago after the match. Reckon they can get him for under 50m. Toney himself will certainly push for it.

Get Cabral in Jan and bin Auba off. Wouldn’t be against a bid for Greenwood either if he’s actually unhappy.

In summer go bold for Vlahovic or tug at the gooner in Gnabry and see if Bayern will budge.

Big fan of Greenwood… I’d take him as well, but it seems incredibly unlikely.
