on a 9 year contract and i reckon if you take the ‘off the books’ stuff i reckon he is on about £750k-1m a week. Everything involving him just wouldn’t be worth it.

I agree, plus I think there is a risk you focus the team around him too much. I like the fact we have a lot of different players who are contributing goals and assists.

Certainly a good track record. Liked Thiago the moment I watched them thump Newcastle, think he came away with at least a goal in the end but even before that he was clearly a real threat against a pretty big defence.
Was surprised he’d actually scored as many as he has when flexo mentioned earlier, just because he’s not had that much attention. He certainly will be getting it now.
Honestly right now he’s showing all the qualities Gyokeres isn’t. Strength and pace, holds it up well and takes his chances.

Prime example of why you don’t pay attention to the goal record of a young striker because it’s not reasonable to expect man to be putting in big numbers when they’re very young.
Nobody would have looked at a 21 year old Igor Thiago who scored something like 15 goals in Bulgaria and thought he would be capable of big numbers in England.
It’s also why I found criticism of Sesko numbers bizarre and why I also found United impatient with Hojlund bizarre.

Think he’s a very good player. Think he’d be a very smart signing for a lot of teams - including us. The problem is that he isn’t ready to be a regular starter here and we need an attacker who has star power. We only really have Saka who is amongst Europe’s best.
I’d take Kroupi as long as it is supplemented by a proven forward.
I’m starting to think about the summer window already and where we need to strengthen…I think we need to look at 3-4 positions where we can strengthen with top quality players. Personally, I think we need to be looking at a new Defender, CM, LW, and Striker. My current wishlist as follows:
- Defender: Marc Guehi (Free Transfer)
- CM: Sandro Tonali
- LW: Morgan Rogers (also thinking about Yan Diomande)
- Striker: Julian Alvarez
Happy to let MLS and Nwaneri leave on season long loans to give them both minutes. I think we should also let Jesus go in the summer. Hopefully, he can find some form and help us win the PL this season and boost his transfer value. If it meant we could bring some real top quality in, I’d also let Merino leave to make space in the squad.

Why Merino? I’m not a huge fan of him as a midfielder but he’s way more useful than Norgaard so if we’re shifting any of our midfielders then surely it has to be Norgaard ?

I do like Merino, but I prefer him as a false 9 to when he plays in midfield. I also think we need someone who can step into the 8 role to provide backup/rotation for Rice. Merino isn’t that player IMO. Someone like Tonali (who I think you’re a fan of), could step into that role and then across midfield you would have Zubi, Norgaard, and Rice who can play at 6, and Rice, Tonali, and Eze/Odegaard who can play 8. If you replace Norgaard, I think we then only really have Zubi and Rice who can play 6, and given they are our first choice pairing, it would leave us short. I also like the look of Carlos Baleba from Brighton who has been linked to Utd a few times.

Merino is a great option to have in the squad. No way he leaves unless someone makes an offer we can’t refuse.
Mikel A loves Mikel M. Can’t see him going anywhere and not should be if he is happy to be a rotation option. Agree that we need another cm and at least one forward. I can see at least 2 of Jesus, Havertz, Martinelli or Trossard moving on in the summer. Zinchenko can do one and reluctantly, we might see Benny Blanco out of the door.
I would love to see McTominay under Arteta.

Funnily enough, I’ve said to a mate that he’d be a great back up to Rice. He isn’t leaving Napoli for less than 80m. Think his style suits Serie A.
This is not wish list worthy but if still take Rashford. Can probably be attained for 30m. Looked good at Villa and is doing good things at Barca. Him for 3 years whilst Nwaneri and Dowman develop.

Look how Martinelli looks against low blocks, it would be no different. Gabi is already good enough for the games where we get the space that Rashford also needs. Then you’d lose all the defensive output.
