Think heās class. Donāt see him as an Arteta style player though.
How so? Iād say itās exact opposite.
Lookman should definitely be on the list of options in the summer. Quality player and didnāt seem to like his Manager slagging him off the other day for his penalty miss. Maybe he is open to a move!
He takes a lot of risks on the ball.
And? When has that stopped Arteta from using a player?
Youād habe a hard time finding a #6 thatās as risky as Thomas Partey and yet heās still one of the first names on the sheet for Arteta.
Saka tries to take on 3-4 players every game and we know how much Arteta likes him.
Had zero issue with Jesus before the injuries piled up too, plenty of examples really.
Arteta doesnāt have an issue with risk takers on the ball, if anything heās encouraging that, he has a problem with passengers though.
Someone like Leao for example, for all his talent Arteta wouldnāt like his nonchalance. Lookman on the other hand has shown to be a game changer by creating shit out of nothing and he doesnāt shy away from doing the work off the ball too. Heās absolutely what Arteta likes in a forward.
Cherki can definitely make the list for LW. Cunha deserves a shout too.
Not seeing anything special in any of the clips Iāve seen of him if Iām honest
Special is subjective. As a DM or central midfielder, he does exactly what youād want. Getting the ball into dangerous areas so the attackers can do their job. Can he put in a tackle? Absolutely. A solid, reliable addition to any midfield. A little bit of flash but mostly effective.
Is that worth £60m? His nationality and the market have made that a prized commodity.
Flexoās gonna have us parting with almost 150m to bring in Cunha and Wharton
He is worth 60m imo and well worth a long term investment.
While there is definitely some truth in young players doing basic things being glorified, his intelligence on field is something to take note of.
I understand the hype and if Partey stays for couple of years, I would rather Wharton than Zubimendi.
They could be our Sadio Mane and Jordan Henderson
Iām looking at Ā£160m midfield containing Wharton and Rice and wondering where the real quality is going to be coming from?
I donāt question your eye for talent I think youāve got good talent ID. Just think weāre moving towards a really āboringā midfield with them two in it. Neither seem to be particularly exciting progressors of the ball.
Hmm, he looks like another average midfielder to me. An option for the bench maybe, but not the transformative type players we should be looking at to actually help us win stuff.
Throwing Jonathan Burkardt in the mix. Injuries stunted his development but this season he has really blossomed. Could be a gamble worth taking.
Quite a good leader as well. Took Mainz out of dump last season.
