Looking at potential striker targets that could be achievable this January, anyone else willing to consider Jhon Duran from Villa? Very young and raw at just 21, but wants to play and appears to be seeking a move.
Possibly some concerns over his attitude but his ceiling seems very high and has impressed in the Premier League. I seem to recall @GC-Maniac was advocating his qualities in the summer, but the player was below my radar then.
PSG seem to keen on him. I doubt Villa will sell him for cheap at this point and they’ll probably wait till the summer before making a decision.
I think it’s wise for us to wait on him till the summer too and see how he fairs now that Emery is giving him proper minutes. So far he’s thriving but it’d be interesting to see how he fairs when the goals dry up, which will happen at some point.
There’s a lot to be encouraged about, including being more attainable in value than the top profile strikers. I doubt it will happen this month.
Not interested in paying over £100m for a 21 year old who’s shown less than one good season of this kind of form.

I don’t think we can spend much more than £50m. Apparently there’s something coming in embargoed section of yesterday’s press conference that explains how we’ve got funds and we’re within EPL rules our operating losses over the last 5 years take us close to UEFA’s FFP rules.
Suggests to me that they’re looking to improve our position on FFP this season so we can throw £100m-plus on players in the summer. We’re getting either a loan, a bargain or nobody this January.

This is the likely scenario and probably the best decision for the club.
But it’s a shame that Man City seem to have got away with this sort FFP scrutiny and have won titles by ignoring the rules for so long.

I’m very worried about the following lot:
- Martinelli
- Trossard
- Havertz
- Odegaard (probs too early to include)
- Vieria
- Merino
They all have HUGE question marks for me right now about their form and playing ability moving forward.
Two signings make half of them backups and they’re all more the capable/suitable for that.
Gotta take perspective on both a) we can’t just replace every player in some bad form and b) that they are generally good enough even if upgradeable

I think he’s overrated but I can see Mikel trying to shake things up and seeking an attacking fullback that can hug the touchline.
Why is the bar so low though? Nobody said we should sell these guys, though Vieria is done here imo.
Why? Are you not worried about his form? Not saying we should sell him, but I am worried about his performances and what could happen if this continues.

Would be genuinely more worried that saka’s hamstring is fucked.

We can hope they offer a competitive package for him. Is Mikel going to stray from his beloved inverting left back though? Who else ‘survives’ from the several others who’ve played there - Tierney, zinchenko, calafiori, tomiyasu, timber, MLS? (Have I missed anyone?)
Yea he has shown his class before. Form is temporary and class is permanent. You’re doing a you special here and blowing things wayyy out of proportion.
He’s mixed it up recently so why not?
With the profiles we have now in the team, it would be easier to fit an overlapping fullback.
We’ve seen Martinelli play there just the other day.
I’ve had a look btw, and it was The Athletic that mentioned that we are monitoring him a month ago. So there is something there.
Mind you, if we were gonna take that route I would be all over Nuno Mendes instead, but he’s made of glass and that’s a recipe for disaster here at Arsenal.

It was in response to the post above about our potential 25/26 squad/team winning the league next year. Those players were all listed in the lineup.
