Tottenham Vs Arsenal (PL)

I realize it’s MLS, but the VAR implementation helped Atlanta United’s title run last season as a goal was correctly disallowed after review during the two legged tie with the NY Red Bulls.

Absolutely baffling that the supposed best league in the world refuses to avail themselves of technology to get the match deciding calls correct. English FA should be embarrassed by the shower of shit that passes for officiating week in and week out in this league.

They haven’t refused. We’ll have it next season.

On a mild north London afternoon Tottenham scragged their way to a bitty 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Wembley. For Spurs it felt like something more significant, an ugly point gained from behind, while playing for much of the afternoon with a ragged, brittle, angsty edge.
It was a point to prevent a poor week becoming a desperate one. Beyond that it was an unfortunate turn of events for those keen to riff on that narrative of Spursiness, of annual chokes and chuckings-in, of a basic weakness of spirit.
In reality this was a heartening display for Tottenham’s supporters, a game dragged back while half the team played below itself, and with a central midfielder in Victor Wanyama who seemed unable to fulfill any part of the brief – passing, covering, even running around looking purposeful – with any real success. It was a point that left Mauricio Pochettino happy to chat in a fond, rambling way through his press conference. It is not hard to see why. For Pochettino, the season never actually boiled down to a battle to finish in the top four. It was always a battle to finish in the top four, one that is back on track now, with the added bonus of a likely passage to the Champions League quarter-finals thrown in.
Against this Tottenham are, for reasons that remain unclear, the most widely chastised of the Premier League’s high-achievers. There has always been a certain jeering unease in the top flight towards a refusal to spend money, the kind of response you might expect in some sweaty, booze-sodden Friday night saloon bar as you sidle up to order your third Orangina of the night.Preformatted text
The urge to cast shade on this fine footballing project is evidence of how simplistic the narrative around football can be. Chuck in the reliance on coaching and youth systems – Spurs spent £18m net in the past five seasons – and it is either idiocy or mischief to conclude Pochettino has done anything other than an excellent job.

Jesus Christ. Barney Ronay thinks he’s so fucking clever. Probably the type of guy who dutch ovens himself in bed because he loves his own brand of farts.

Don’t tell it to Pocho and Klaim. They think it was one of their best games ever.

Who was your MOTM?

Mustafi, who fucking else?

What a load of shit. Making any movement to try get on the end of a cross is an attempt to play the ball. It’s not fucking rocket science.

To be fair to Mustafi, to keep up such a high level of consistency of poor performances is to be admired.

You have to go all the way back to Denilson to see such underwhelming displays on such a regular basis.

At least Denilson could pull sideways passes off

That’s true.
Those two yard passes to a team mate and treating the ball like a hot potato is what made him a first team regular.

Spurs journalist? He was fucking offside. End of it.

Even the PL match day centre said it should have been offside.

So he wasn’t moving towards the ball with the intent of playing the ball then?

Well after arguing and questioning and delegating blame ive come to one good conclusion from yesterdays game having read every post on here and social media.
Its fucking fantastic that everyone fucking cares again.
Loads of emotion pain, hurt, hate and that all comes from love of Arsenal. Compare this to last years apathetic display and performance in the same fixture.
Its a positive to cling to with a european game coming up and being in the mix for top 4. Small bite size but Chelsea home and away. Liverpool at home and spuds twice have given us a glimpse and feel of the chance of moving forward.
Yeah theres been problems a plenty with manager, players and board. But and its a big one, if we can get it right off the field this summer we have decent hope.
Europe is my main hope but as long as we produce decent football between now and the end of the season delivering the promise of better next season will do for me now.
Yeah yesterday was a bitch, but its good to feel and care again. Kudos to Emery on that one warts and all. (mustafi)

I’ve been for something like VAR for years. Too much bullshit, especially as Arsenal were nearly always on the end of bullshit refereering decisions. It’s not just us, teams could end up being relegated on a couple of points and goal difference, I’m still gutted from yesterday, can’t even imagine some bullshit like that getting us relegated.

He is a cunt. That’s it.

And this is how VAR still isn’t going to help. A clear offside like Kane, won’t be overturned by the officials and something like the above will be their explanation as to why.
