Thomas Partey

We’ll see what the evidence is but it always seemed like there was more to this than the Mendy stuff.

Very silly and subjective opinion from me but there you go.

There is a lot about the UK legal system I frankly don’t understand. But the aspect of the case I’m still most curious about is why it took so long to make a charging decision. The lengthy time period seems even more bizarre given that they ended up charging him for incidents related to all three accusers.

At least in the US, in rape investigations in which the identity of the alleged perpetrator isn’t a mystery the evidence tends to be available pretty quickly - statements from the two people involved, statements from witnesses during the day/night of the allegation, forensic evidence, text messages, etc. It doesn’t take that long to gather and either you have the evidence to take the case to court or you don’t. We’re talking like a month or two for police to gather the evidence and then for prosecutors to make a call.

In an unusual situation, I could see how key evidence might not come available until far later - like maybe a witness turns up that previously couldn’t be found - but the odds of that kind of thing happening for all three accusers seems pretty remote. So its hard not to conclude that for at least some of these allegations they must have had all the evidence they needed to make a charging decision years ago and yet…didn’t for whatever reason.

The alternative - and this is total speculation - is that maybe they didn’t have enough evidence to confidently charge him but now that he is close to leaving the country they figure they might as well take a shot. In the US, that would be frowned on in terms of prosecutorial behavior. You’re only supposed to take a case to trial if you’re very confident you can win and you don’t change the charging decision based on what you think somebody on bail might do. But maybe it happens in the UK.

I swear we once had someone on here who is, I think he mentioned it once or twice in passing.

I have no idea who you are referring to!

Football (not soccer) its played with a foot and ball - end of !?

Didn’t expect Arseblog’s criticism of the club to be so vociferous. It’s well explained as always though.

I can’t argue with anything he said. It really is a stain on this club.

This is the killer. We were actively were trying to give a multi million contract to someone with open rape accusations. It completely takes away the clubs legs on any moral ground.

Blockquote
The deal broke down over money, nothing else. The fact his profile was still on the arsenal website after the news broke yesterday tells you that they didn’t know this was coming. They were blindsided. There might be a moral vacuum, but they’re not stupid. The reporting kept referencing ‘Former Arsenal player …’ yesterday. It could very easily have been ‘Arsenal player … who was recently handed a new two year deal even though the club knew what he’d been accused of’.

This is true, and lots of us fans were also clamouring for it as well.

It’s not just the club that needs to do some soul searching.

Exactly :joy:

The club would have known much much more about this being the employer than the fans do.

Could the “extension” a smoke to hide the identity of the player(Partey)??
No one knows.

If he is not guilty until proven guilty, he is innocent.
There is zero moral ground to cut loose to an “innocent”.

Hate to see these “moral police” throwing accusation to everybody easily.
I know exactly what they would say, if Arsenal terminated Party’s contract and he was proved not guilty in the end.

Everybody will be saying what I just said, “innocent till proven guilty” and accuse the club making a wrong move.

What are you actually complaining about? Assuming its the arseblog article there’s nothing in it that remotely resembles your ramblings there.

I’m complaining the ones who said the club is doing it wrong.

Can we just agree that it is unfortunate and just move on?
Partey left as contract expired.

Not everything has a right or a wrong, especially it is still way too early to jump on any conclusion.

If you want to move on why not mute the thread and be done with it.

Again, mute the thread.

I don’t want to say it but you are forcing me to do so.
A lot of times when I complain, you asked me to mute this or mute that.

Please just tell me I’m not allowed to complain here or saying something you don’t agree with; while others are having unlimited freedom to put shit and wrongful tweets here everyday.

You can complain all you like.

Your complaint is you don’t like what you’re reading.

My solution solves your problem.

Did I say…

That was how I felt after reading what Arseblog said.
To the “ones”…

Anyway..
Who fucking cares??

Moving on is entirely in your own power
