Thomas Partey (5)

Fuuuuuuck.

Nice, Xhaka and Elneny for the first half of the season. Fantastic.

Think I will wait for this to be confirmed.

Apparently, Samuel Zigah is Partey’s spokesman.

Hopefully a Wheatley or Watts confirm the extent of the injury tomorrow…

My hopes are very low, because we don’t need a big squad, but if they don’t go out and buy a midfielder if Partey is out for a significant amount of time, it’s gone beyond even my wildest accusations as to how bad/inept this club have become.

I think what’s going to happen is we will probably just look in house for solutions. Torreira will stay and play, Xhaka clearly going nowhere, and if shit really goes bad you’ll see Aziz.

Fuck what a mess. Insanely talented player and huge coup for a club in our state but just unlucky he’s made of fucking glass ever since moving to England.

That’s what I was saying yesterday. Back in time to leave, comes back from AFCON exhausted and we don’t see him play properly until March. Another wasted season.

Yeah so 2 seasons in his prime as a 27 and 28 year old are a dead duck. Sadly it’s a flop of a transfer, not due to the quality of the player but because he can’t get on the park.

Hey look on the bright side, at least Xhaka and Elneny are durable .

Unlucky but something completely avoidable. The risk of this was buying a player of his age with all the miles on his legs for that big chunk of cash. Analytics ppl said it wasn’t smart at the time and we could have spent the money more wisely. This is going to keep happening as long as the club continue to have this inflated view of themselves, need be conscientious of the situation.

Yup.

Paid big money for a guy in his prime at the absolute start of a rebuild project. Didn’t make sense at the time and looks worse now.

Nah that’s bullshit, Partey is baller and we did right going for the best DM on the market at the time. I know you’re in full on Nostradumbass mode these days but he’s 28, twenty fucking eight. People acting like we bought him at 35 with a history of bad knees.

People seem to think that anyone over the age of 27 in football these days is legally dead.

It was a risk though. Spending really big on a prime age player coming from another league and a very specialized system at Atletico.

We needed creativity and goals from midfield last summer too.

We wound up signing Partey and not Auoar.

And a year later we haven’t really seen Partey.

Edit: I think @Electrifying summed it up better than I did. It’s not the player, it’s how we failed and to take care of him.

main issues is Arteta using and abusing him because he doesn’t trust Elnenny and Xhaka, but the confused guy demanded they not be sold.

Rushed him back from injuries, aggravating them.

Just remember, before he came to this cancerous disgusting club, he had never been injuried for atleti or something.

Like there were no concerns whatsoever with his injury record.

The main reason you’re against this transfer is because you spent all last summer saying it would never happen, we couldn’t afford it etc etc. Boring.

You’re always better with players like Partey at the club than without. Realistically he’s the only midfielder we have apart from this young Belgium lad that I would mind if they got blasted towards the moon tomorrow.

Having Partey doesn’t suddenly stop us from chasing Guimares, Loactelli or any of the other CM’s we have been linked with, people are so one track mind at the moment that they look for any opportunity to beat the club down. It’s not like we haven’t had injuries in the past, Santi Cazorla one of our best players of the Emirates era nearly lost his fucking foot, still doesn’t mean he was a bad signing.
