Sigh. This is going to become a world wide trend, ain’t it?

Slowly it is

modern antifa has existed for decades here in Europe and is very different (at least from what I’ve seen and heard) from the antifa in the US that’s been gaining motion as a movement lately which seems completely insane lol

It’s on the rise because of Donald Trump and his minions. It is truly a counter movement to the the Alt-Right. But it’s always been here, the WTO protests of '99 in Seattle were the same organizations with a different name DAN.

Side note: I’ve always though anarchist organizations were hilarious.

And @A.F there is a huge difference between Antifa and Nazis… let’s not kid ourselves here. One is bent on oppressing people based on race, religion, sex, etc and the other is bent on opposing that. There are even tactical differences. Antifa chooses direct engagement with Nazis, police, corporations, etc… while Neo-Nazis prefer to bully and belittle.

@A.F
are you of the opinion that it was wrong to stop the nazis by warring them and using violence? I don’t get the image lol or is it a joke about the guy on the right, who doesn’t understand that there is obviously a difference. or is the picture just bad “but I know what it’s getting at”.

@A.F is left wing, so he is taking the piss out of anyone that equates Antifa to the people they fight against.

Well of course

The question is how do you ensure effective delivery of a comprehensive early year education for every child and as they age?

It really isn’t enough to have well funded educational system. In the UK the schools in the most deprived areas will have a higher pupil premium compared to schools better areas.

Reality is, the lesson learned at home are more effective than school. We really have to look closer at the quality that environment in order to effect change

Can you cite your source? Not being combative, just used to the US where schools are funded by property taxes. Thus ensuring low income areas will always have less funding.

Maybe back then they were more like how they (mostly, probably not always) are in here, as in a group traditionally very strongly tied by ideology but not in organisation and which would act as small vigilante-like groups in action meaning they do not really target police or journalists etc. but straight up nazis or fascists without any middle man. That might be because to an American the resource distribution system here is pretty much at least semi-socialist by nature. antifa could pop up to add numbers to the anti-fascist side of a demonstration in public but that’s about it.

That public 360 aggression towards everything around them, fighting police and journalists etc. is unusual here and maybe they do so there because they feel that at the moment in the US the gvt and in extension the police are the fascists? and so they are more similar to the original antifa from WWII. At least that’s what I get from reading news articles here about it. Except that they seem to lash out at everything and seem to do as much harm as good.

@Electrifying @A.F yeah I thought I remembered that but I got unsure because I have a shitty memory sometimes  I think we’ve agreed on leftist stuff before

The pupil premium grant is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England. It’s a school-level grant that gives schools extra resources to help them meet challenges, including those arising from deprivation.

It’s allocated for schools to:

Improve the academic outcomes of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities

Close the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers across the country

The schools in England and Wales are centrally funded via local government

I’m on the left side of the scale, and I think antifa are a massive bunch of wankers. They’re the very thing they purport to fight against.

Fair enough, i can see how you could think that

They’re the very thing they purport to fight against.

No lol, this is where the meme comes in

No that’s a silly meme. Fascism comes in many guises.

You can’t set the bar at Nazi Germany, because no one would ever qualify.

They don’t believe in free speech, anyone who don’t believe what they believe is the enemy, they believe in state controlled economy and they use violence, the belief of the collective in-spite of the individual. They are similar to the brown/red shirts of Communism. Some cases are racist themselves which just boggles my mind. Most of them are white who say they support POC and marginalized people but would attack one hurling racial epithets at them. It’s like they are racist with a guilty conscience. I don’t trust them like I don’t trust male feminist

Authoritarianism comes in many guises*

Fascism does not, really. There are slight variants, sure. But it’s actually a quite distinct ideology, and antifa are plainly not fascists. Anyone who says that they are is being politically illiterate.

Most members of antifa are racists who would attack a person of colour and call them racial epithets? What on earth are you basing that sweeping generalisation on?

Here you go

So that translates to “most”… Antifa is not a centralised group, there are thousands of people across the world who to some extent would subscribe to the core belief of taking some form of anti fascist action.

Because of this one story you and your brother think you can extrapolate and say most people affiliated to antifa would attack people of colour and throw racial slurs at them.

If you can’t see how that’s a spectacularly poor argument then there’s no helping you.

Your brother has made a grand claim he cannot possibly justify, and you’ve done little to help him.

Ill try to help you see my point. If I said that conservatives are paedophiles and most of them would rape their kids, and you asked me what the hell justified such a generalisation, I don’t think you’d then be satisfied if I then posted a news story that mentioned one or two incidents.

After they beat up a Asian journalist because he was conservative, antifa and they supporters were happy about it; until it came out he was gay and an immigrant.

These guys are facist thugs and see no reason why people support them.

It wasn’t a secret that Andy Ngo is both asian and gay. They beat him up because he’s been exposing their hypocrisy for a while now.

And it’s fairly easy to see why people support these arseholes. It’s all about the end result, and if you have to use violence and intimation to get there, then so be it.
