Super Mik Arteta

Was there any suggestion he doesn’t?

Sterling came in late during the Summer whilst ESR, Vieira and Eddie left.

We are nearly halfway through January and nobody is close to joining as a new attacker. What is there to suggest that Arteta doesn’t see Havertz as his main man? What is there to suggest he’s pushing for forwards? We spent 100m in the summer on a GK, cb and cm. Would indicate that the attack wasn’t the priority.

49 shots at goal in our 2 last games and have 1 heavily deflected goal to show for it.

Mikel Areta:

Shut up Mikel. He can’t seriously believe what he says

I think that’s an accurate statement.

There’s just no reason to care about that right now.

Seriously?

How can we have not got what we deserved when the whole point of this game is scoring more goals than the opposition

Incompetence doesn’t mean you’re unlucky

I can’t see that at all but fair if that’s how you feel

The best attacking players/teams outperform their xg (for obvious reasons) and of course poor attacking players/teams under-perform their xg (again, for obvious reasons).

right now our attacking players are mid-table if we are very charitable tbh.

It also doesn’t help that it seems like our overall play is slow, ponderous, and predictable…

I’ll outbid anyone who wants to remove ‘Super’ so it is kept in the title for this thread!

Failure to prepare, prepare to fail

FFS @JakeyBoy …£50.01! I’m not made of money lol

Arteta: “We didn’t get what we deserved.”

Arteta has spent around 150m on Havertz, Trossard and Jesus and is coaching and picking them, so it’s his responsibility.

Every pundit and supporter knows what we’re lacking and that’s down to Arteta wasting money on inadequate attacking players that simply aren’t good enough for a title challenging team.

If he continues to do nothing while repeating the same mistakes, then we’re going to continue “getting what we deserve.”

Tbf I think if you have 49 shots at goal, you might feel like you deserve more than a draw and a loss across 2 games lol and apparently over our last few games we have like 8xg and only 1 goal.

It’s only ridiculous mostly because of either a) we are mad we lost games or b) opposition fans being haters.

Sure, there are issues but it’s not that ridiculous. You can debate whether it’s what fans want to hear but that is meaningless with regard to whether the statement is fair.

@Mysty if he were here I think he’d have the perfect analogy for this.

He’s looking more and more like Andreas Seidl

This is classic manager speak. Team should’ve scored at least 4 goals today, similar to Newcastle.
We’ve got a game on Wednesday, team’s confidence is in the gutter.
He’s not gonna go out to the media and call Havertz, Odegaard and Trossard pricks for not scoring.
He’ll hope for a similar performance bar the finishing against Spurs and Villa.

I see a lot of folks blaming Mikel for poor recruitment and others for our boring way of playing. I know it’s probably a bit of both but surely, having poor players makes his job harder and can render his tactics ineffective.

So what we need is someone to sort out our recruitment and that someone has to be strong enough to challenge Arteta. This coming Summer has to see a clear out of sorts and some replacements brought in. Another crucial summer that we just cannot get wrong and hopefully, this time we don’t.

Still back Arteta. Its easy to not get frustrated when you have written the season off already. And of course, not watching us play also helps.

Where did these 49 shots on target come from? Did we really have that many shots?
I don’t recall 20+ shots yesterday. Apart from Gabriel’s goal & penalties, I don’t remember any good attempts at the goal.

I don’t know about the Newcastle game because I signed off after Havertz’s header.

26 today, 23 against Newcastle. Obviously that doesn’t give any indication about the quality of shots but apparently our xG was about 3.

That’s fair enough but if you’re strikers are missing all these chances then that’s down to the manager who bought the players and persists with them.
