Stone Cold Might Be The 🐐

Modern day wrestling in a nutshell. Stupid, grossly unrealistic spots.

The basis of wrestling was that people weren’t supposed to be able to tell it was worked. When the business got exposed overtime the best workers still maintained a style that looked real.

These high spot clowns will never understand that simply showing athleticism for the sake of it is not entertaining. They can’t sell properly, everything looks overly choreographed and the matches move are stupidly frenetic paces with no real story being told.

These guys need to watch the athletic workers of the 90s like HBK and Owen Hart who were quick, athletic, nimble but they made it look real.

These nerds are too heavily supported by marks unfortunately.

HBK is very much responsible for this shit tbf. Every one of those nerds wants to be like him.

Yep. But the issue is HBK was fucking good at it lol, some of the best matches ever feature him.

As big of a cunt as he was - he’s an all time great who did it the right way lol

Exactly, these morons took everything silly HBK did and somehow made it x10 more phony.
Hell, they even took the shit he was doing right and made it look like shit or abused it(superkick).
I don’t have an issue with wrestlers using past wrestlers as a point of reference but at least do their shit right and don’t fucking abuse it, clowns.

Yep.

Super kick is overused, leg slapping shit now.

The DDT was a finishing move for decades and now it’s just a common move.

High spots used to look dangerous because they didn’t look preplanned. Now guys literally stand there and wait for the opponent so they can catch him lmao.

Remember when JR called that shit out and some wrestlers got salty over it?

The thing is these geeks don’t understand they’ve got one of the greatest minds in the business on the commentary booth. When he’s telling you what you’re doing is silly - be open to listening.

You can tel he totally lacks any interest in the product and can barely stand calling it.

I honestly think if his wife was still alive, JR would have retired after WWE. I think he works just to keep himself busy and keeping ticking along

This is spot on actually… I think he likes keeping busy and interacting with people.
I think things have improved a bit for him the past year with some proper wrestlers and like minded people arriving in AEW that don’t have their heads up their ass.
I do feel sorry for him though when he has to call segments with morons like Kenny Omega and nowadays Adam Cole, playing with friends.

As jr puts it bet he wishes he could have a stone cold type stomp a mudhole on Kenny  bloke is brutal.

@DavidHillier I assume you’ve watched last Dynamite? Can you give me your thoughts on Adam Cole as a whole since coming to AEW?

I think he’s good in the ring, engages with the fans well (if only for his theme tune) but I get the impression he needs to be propped up. First by the Young Bucks, then by Red Dragon and now by the biggest female wrestling superstar out there.

The fact that he put Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus over and he’s now in this ridiculous feud with the nonsensical Orange Cassidy doesn’t help. He’s gonna fight him again? #facepalm

I don’t think he’d get the total fan engagement the likes of Hook and Malakai get. He doesn’t possess the in-ring ability of a Bastard Pac, either.

Sadly, I think he’ll just fall a bracket below on all counts. Future TNT champion, perhaps, but world champion, nah.

The cowboys in town

I have to say, this iteration of Brock is my favourite, he actually looks like he enjoys it.

Surely he’s just doing it to take the piss out of Hangman, isn’t he?

He probably doesn’t even know who Adam Page is lol

This is exactly what I was going to say :joy:
