I mean, itās not surprising they want to own as much as possible of the IP that they use.
But he first went to WWE in 2005. Not sure how thatās hard to understand. Plus he used Cult of Personality in ROH before he signed with WWE.

That was towards the end. He didnāt end up using Cult Of Personality when he first went to WWE.
He switched to that in 2011 when he returned. We know one of the conditions for him renewing at the time was that he would get his own music.
So what Corey is talking about is either 2011 or 2023. I think the fact that he says first, he probably means 2011. I donāt think he was even aware of Punk using his music in ROH before that, probably wasnāt even aware who Punk is too. 
Tbh, when I first read it I thought he was talking about the latest return because they ended up remastering the song which is mediocre compared to the OG one.

The highlighted part implies to me that he got his way, which we know he wouldnāt in 2006, so thatās why I think he must be referencing 2011.

One thing that Iāll give to that theory is that he did keep his name(during a time where indy guys didnāt keep their names) but if I recall correctly thatās because nobody cared enough about him to change it and they didnāt think heāll make it far anyway.
If he did demand Cult of Personality in 2005 then fair play to him, adds more to his legacy.

Initially, Ī thought he was talking about 2023 but then realized he was taking about 2011.
