Just watched Tyson and Austin @SRCJJ @DavidHillier
People donāt understand what an impact Tyson had on ushering in an era of success for WWF. They paid him huge money but the Austin - HBK match was in all the mainstream press. The inclusion of Tyson gave them significant credibility.
As I recall it was controversial for him to appear in any ring at the time as it was during his ban for biting Holyfield.
It was. Theyāre even trying to say heās not allowed to compete in the WWF as well due to it, not just boxing.
@Leper you asked me if Dynamite has really been that bad.
Well:
This is up there with WWE incorporating zombies a couple years ago. At least WWE had the covid excuse back then.
@DavidHillier latest Dynamite was the definition of a hot mess.
Wtf
I heard some shit about a Texas Chainsaw match. Think Iāll give Dynamite a miss on Saturday. Thereās wall-to-wall footy that day anyhow.
@Josh I weirdly remember that Tyson only reacted twice for entrants to the Royal Rumble in 98. He popped once for Austin and once again forā¦Owen Hart
K-Kwik.
It only happened upon the fact that R-Truth was K-Kwik a couple of years ago. Man has been around forever.
Edge addressed the rumours.
Match today is his last on his current contract. He said he genuinely doesnāt know what to do next. He did highlight how difficult it is getting to still do this at his age.
If itās his last one then Iām sure it would be a nice send off. Canāt help but feel it deserves a Wrestlemania (or Summerslam main event?) though.
I wouldnāt normally advocate for anyone to go to AEW but a final Edge and Christian Vs the Hardys wouldnāt be a bad way to go out either.
Edge was a massive overachiever. I donāt think he ever should have been a world champion. He had some great matches but a guy like him never had the believability factor
If we look at the very pinnacle of the business in the late 90s you couldnāt imagine Edge being a main event player.
Batista, Cena, Orton, Lesnar are the main guys from that era that I think could have held their own as main event guys in the Attitude era
I think he had enough about him to suspend disbelief. Whether he should be the most decorated wrestler in WWE history I certainly would accept. But thereās been a lot worse world champions than him.
The title reigns are not the most memorable part of his career though.
Absolutely this.
He had the worst spear ever too. Never looked even remotely impactful.
Goldberg looked like his spear would break you in 2. Edge looks like it pushes you back ever so slightly.
Rhyno had the best. Even though it wasnāt even called the spear
