Our squad depth is so crazy right now, even if we sold 9-10 players from the first team, with everyone fit we are still too big to fit everyone in a matchday squad with 9 players on the bench(20 players in total with the starting XI).
We could end up having the likes of Tomiyasu, Kiwior, Tierney, Jorginho, Partey, Vieira, ESR, Nelson and Nketiah casually missing matchday squads. If we were to sell the players who are most likely to go, at least 3 of the above would be missing the squad without injuries.
It’s probably unlikely we stay injury free for a long time, but if we do, certain players will be starving for minutes. Is this a risk some of the non guaranteed starters are willing to take?
Tierney will have to compete with Tomiyasu, Timber and Kiwior just for a spot on the bench. All three of them are far more versatile and actual Arteta signings. Once he clocks it in August, he’ll personally ask Edu and Teta to go.
Then there’s the conundrum with Vieira, ESR, Nelson, Trossard and Nketiah. Not all 5 will make it to the squad as it’s an overkill. It’ll usually be 3 of them, 4 at best. Nelson may look like the obvious omission but he just signed a new contract, you would expect he was given assurances of more game time going forward.
And maybe, just maybe Arteta exactly knows what is he doing and needs big squad for that…

Tbf, he’s never worked with a squad here as big and with so much quality. He also said he likes working with smaller squads(24-25) too.
There will be quite a lot of trimming from now till September.

Edu & Board has given all the tools(bar Saka backup) possible for Arteta to win a trophy this season.
I don’t think Arsenal spent 230m in total in the first 25 years of their PL existence and Kroenkes just blew that cash in a single window.

Yups, it cannot be denied. Arteta has been well and truly backed to high heavens now. He has to deliver. I think we’ll win the league at least once in the next 3 years.
Used Jesus as the front three rotation and get us a clinical striker, then we should be good enough, even CL

Would absolutely love it if Jesus was back up to Saka on the right and we bought in a back up cf to Jesus. Sadly, can’t see a striker coming in though. Nketiah, Trossard and Havertz appear to be out Jesus alternatives.

Numbers wise we have enough. Quality and depth wise, this is the best Arsenal squad by far of the Emirates Era. We might not have the star quality of past teams but there really are very few weak links.

We’ve got cover the quality of Raya, Tomiyasu, Tierney, Zinchenko, Kiwior, Jorginho, ESR, Vieira, Trossard and Nketiah, who could all walk into the first team of any mid table PL club, which is what we’ve been lacking.
It’s this sort of strength in depth that is the reason why Chelsea, Man City and Man U have dominated the PL and our lack of it is why we’ve often lost out when we’ve had injuries and fatigue because of the lack of depth in quality.

Still a lot of outgoing business to conduct. My guesses:
Balogun - We sell him to Monaco or maybe a PL club like West Ham for ~40m.
Tierney and Tomiyasu - Both end up staying for now, one maybe moves in January.
Holding - Sold for a pittance at the end of the window (~5m) to some PL squad looking to bolster CB depth.
Tavares - Sold for 10m to anybody dumb enough to take him.
Sambi - Loaned to Burnley.
Okonkwo - Sold for 5m to a team in Germany.
Cedric - Contract termination, moves to Portugal.
Pepe - Contract termination, moves to Turkey.
Runarsson - Contract termination, never heard from again.

With Saka, Nketiah and Martinelli now over 21 and having to be registered for European Competition it’s going to be tight.
If Timber is out for 3-4 months, they may decide against registering him for the first half of the ECL season and free-up a spot. I think you can still replace 2 in the January window. Hope it’s not necessary.
