Something Going Down in Turkey!

Also incredible to see the public stand up unarmed against a military power though. I wonder what carnage would have ensued if those tens of thousands of civilians decided to take to the streets with assault rifles and not flags… We’d be waking up to a massacre. Take note America.

Welp, the Turkish military gave it a good go but looks like this was a red herring probably set up by the Western Allies to flush out undesirables in the military. Erdogan’s movements around the country belied that he could do whatever he wanted and felt safe in doing so the entire time.

Gulen, Erdogan’s main opponent, accuses the turkish president to have staged last night’s coup.

@Gunnerpr - you win.

I always win.

Something’s fishy, even if he only let it happen to gain personal advantage. Could have easily been an operation that was planned bigger, but had key parts withdraw before it went down, letting everyone else run into a knife.

I’ve been thinking about it today and it makes sense. If the military really wanted to they could have made the coup successful. In terms of force they had the absolute means to do so.

They should have arrested Erdogan immediately. Military coup would have been succesful at that point.

For me, I see the allegations of the coup attempt being hoax is nonsense. Turkey has got a long history in coups, besides that why would Erdogan put himself in a very risky situation like that, making the army taking real control of Cities and Airports is like exactly putting a gun to his head and he shoots with a hope that it’s an empty gun. The consequences of the coup are still taking place, there are videos of army forces shooting civilians, the civilian casualties are quite a lot. I hear from people in Turkey, I know personally, that clashes are still going on. There are assaults from coup supporters and right wings on Syrian refugees. So those claims without real evidence are false for me. Too early to reach a conclusion for that issue to be fair.

they were never really big enough to take over anything of note. if numbers are to believed the army had not even 1% of their absolute number out there, so it was doomed to fail from the beginning. even more so as they didn’t capture anyone of note and let Erdogan stream his message out on TV.

There was no risk that this coup would succeed, but it leaves people questioning who ultimately was behind it and some of Erdogan’s immediate quotes at least open a door of him knowing beforehand that something was going to go down.

You do have to wonder what bonehead would willingly go into action knowing your odds were 99-1 against.

Things were more fraught than this. The number out there who participated in this is believed to be around 4000, and with their guns, equipment, air crafts and their commanders they’re more than enough to take charge. There are top military chiefs are believed to be invloved.

They captured Turkey’s top military commander, General Hulusi Akar. They didn’t allow Erdogan stream on TV, it was a Skype call on CNN Turkey, as the national TV was occupied by the military already.

Erdogan himself went through two assassination/capture attempts first one, around 25 soldiers in helicopters descended on a hotel in Marmaris on ropes, shooting, just after Erdogan had left in an apparent attempt to seize him, and had bombed places he had been at shortly after he left. Second one there were rebel jets having Erdogan in sight before he lands in Istanbul Airport. But he was protected by jets combining him.

It was a real coup in my eyes, not a walk in the park. It’s not over yet, police and intelligence operations are still going on, give it awhile until a final conclusion. There are many elements and details that contributed to the big response against the coup; Police,Turkish, intelligence, part of Army, people’s reaction (for example thousands of trucks closed the main roads against the coup forces to stall their movements on the ground), but I’ll not go through this now.

Here are some supportive links to my information:

Fair enough, we’ll have to see what will happen next. I’m not going to claim to know the absolute truth, but to me it still seems dodgy to say at least and I’m not quite ready to buy into too many of the stories reported, which funnily enough had their doubts stated too. Even more so as they had a list of ~2.700 judges to be suspended not even 24h after, which on its own should have half of their population on the streets wondering how that can happen.

Absolutely disgusting how so many people died during this pathetic attempt. Innocent people yet again getting caught in stupid games played by corrupt Governments.

RIP to the innocent people who lost their lives. And may those who died being directly involved in the instigation of this situation rot in hell.

Turkey coup: Disturbing picture shows soldiers ‘bound naked’ as Turkish President is warned over ‘purges’

This disturbing picture shows dozens of Turkish soldiers bound together after being stripped of their uniforms following their arrest.

Dozens of soldiers lie naked and handcuffed after being arrested following Friday night’s coup attempt in Turkey.

The picture shows how the soldiers were stripped after being arrested in Sirnak, eastern Turkey.

They were then made to lie next to each other. It comes after a Turkish soldier was reportedly beheaded on Istanbul’s Bosphorus Bridge by a pro-government mob yesterday.

This is what happens when you put an army on confrontation with civilians! Sick bastards!

When you stage a coup ,normally you take control of the radio and tv stations ,key buildings and detain other members of the security forces .
Above all you surround or arrest the Leader .
Putting 2 or three tanks and a handful of troops on to a Bridge and a few roads doesn’t make a coup.
A publicity stunt so that you can crackdown on dissidents in their thousand’s yes but not a coup !

Did those jets have him in their sights to shoot him down? Or because they were escorting him?

To shoot him down, they were not friends.

“At least two F-16s harassed Erdogan’s plane
while it was in the air and en route to Istanbul. They locked their
radars on his plane and on two other F-16s protecting him,” a former
military officer with knowledge of the events told Reuters.“Why they didn’t fire is a mystery,” he said.
