However we have glaring weaknesses still. At the beginning of the window i did a poll on which position people would prioritise us to improve and 73% of people on here went with creative midfield. Its a position and issue we havent fixed at all. We are terrible at creating chances, we’re currently creating less than under Emery which was also bad.

That lack of midfield to attack link is basically gonna lead to a whole season of tedius back and forth about what position is auba’s best when the reality is whether its left or central the issue of not creating chances will be the same.

This is our biggest problem.
Like you say, we have bought a decent CB, got a very good CM and Aubameyang has signed a new contract but we really need a playmaker, which has been lacking since Ozil and Sanchez were at their peak.

With Aubameyang as our only real goal threat, we have to get someone to supply him and, although Willian is ok, he’s not the long term answer.

This season we’ve been poor going forward and have one of the worst goal chances per game stats in the PL and Arteta is obviously aware of this so perhaps he is going to play Pepe more and then wait until the next window to get some decent quality in.
