Funnily enough we’ve had it quite a lot over the years
Since when did ManU become a big 6 rival?
When was the last time?
City I think (without checking) then Liverpool quite a few times it feels like
That’s gone from difficult to, we’re going to win the title.
We’ve got to play these “tough” matches as some point, better to do it after a month of intensive training and tactical sessions before fatigue, injuries and suspensions start to impact the squad.
It’s a lovely narrative for the press though, if we don’t win away at Liverpool and/or Man Utd (and I’d be happy with 4 points from those) then they’ll say it’s over for Arsenal and Arteta.
We can’t afford to be more than 7 points behind whoever is leading the race at any point in the season imho.
Get the tough games out of the way nice and early

Liverpool and/or Man Utd (and I’d be happy with 4 points from those)
For me, happy would probably be underselling how I’d feel about 4 points from the 6 available from trips to Anfield and Old Trafford (even with United being a shadow of their former selves)
Very decent fixtures for May
We had Liverpool away first in 2010/11
Koscielny got sent off on his debut if I remember
Will this match be moved to Friday night? We’ve got a good record up there on Friday nights in the summer.
That 2010 game wasn’t so bad. Reina scored an own goal in stoppage time so we snatched an unlikely draw at a ground we were frequently getting battered. Koscielny was sent off 4 minutes later in the 96th minute. It’s fair to say he had a rocky start with us.
It’ll be 16:30 probs
At least there’s still a couple of trains home after a 16:30 kick off. Friday night games are a fucking pain if they’re not in London.
This is the most super sundayish game of the opening weekend

Will this match be moved to Friday night?
No, the first round has been fully planned. Liverpool - Bournemouth is the opening game on Friday.
Thanks, yes, I’ve only just got home and seen the full list on a larger screen.
I thought Liverpool away was our first match from what was being said. I’m much happier that it’s Man Utd. How times have changed.

then they’ll say it’s over for Arsenal and Arteta
Sounds quite lenient, last season some people were conceding the title to City before the season started.
